Tracking Pat Robertson’s Shift to the Left

OPINION -

Pat Robertson, one of those Christian spokesmen that makes Christians cringe every time he opens his mouth, has struck again. At least he’s not calling for violence…this time. Strangely, though, this time around he is endorsing Obama and Obama’s coming socialist policies. Kurt Nimmo at Infowars reports:

On December 23, the “conservative” preacher Pat Robertson told CNN’s Suzanne Malveaux that he was pleased as punch with the election of Barack Obama. “I am remarkably pleased with Obama. I had grave misgivings about him. But so help me, he’s come in forcefully, intelligently. He’s picked a middle of the road cabinet. And so far, if he continues down this course, he has the makings of a great president,” said Robertson.

Here’s hoping that Pat Robertson really succeeds in damaging the political left for the long-term. AMEN!

Excerpt:

Robertson said on New Year’s Day that “nothing will stand in the way of a plan by Obama to restructure the economy in the same fashion as the New Deal in the ’30s,” according to videotaped comments aired on Friday’s show.

The New Deal consisted of economic initiatives, such as publicly funded job programs, that Democratic President Franklin D. Roosevelt promoted during the Great Depression.

Robertson said on Friday that with a New Deal-style initiative, “you’re federalizing many of the things you’re doing. And it’ll be the largest transfer of power to Washington since the ’30s, but people are just willing to accept it because the pain has been so bad.”

Robertson’s predictions last year for the economy were pretty much on target. He forecast oil would hit $150 a barrel; it reached $147 last summer. Gold hit $1,000 an ounce, as he said it would, in March.

His prophecy of a stock market crash for 2009 came true, a tad early, in the fall. And his forecast of a recession proved true.

Robertson said Friday that the trillions of government dollars spent on economic stimulus could lead to hyperinflation that ruins the dollar’s value.

“Everybody here will have to pay more, imported goods will cost a lot more, and there can be a lot of pain and suffering,” he said.

According to the Creator, “if I’m hearing him right, gold will go to about $1,900 an ounce, and oil $300 a barrel,” Robertson said.

the apparent symbiotic relationship between the right and fundamentalism seems natural, even for folks like me that don’t consider myself a particularly religious person.

for fundamentalist folks to slap conservatism in the face, can only ultimately break down both and ultimately destroy both, leaving godless marxists to rule.

What? This makes me want to say, “Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.” Matt 7:22 & 23.

Wasn’t Robertson one of those chastised for saying 9-11 was God’s judgment against America? And now he embraces those who are in support of all that is evil in this nation? What kind of blinders did this man put on?

Maybe Pat has caught whatever it was that took over the mind of Oral Roberts.

You may remember that Oral locked himself up in his tower, pledging only to come down when donations totaling a million dollars came in.

Some say he later promised that if donors could come up with a million pianos, he'd brink back Liberace....but that was just a rumor.

If Pat has indeed gone "loony tunes", it would stand to reason that he become a liberal Democrat. That's the usual sequence.

Somehow I have a feeling that he doesn’t want to be seen as ‘racist bigot’ who doesn’t approve the first African to be a US President. For this reason, he is willing to say that everything is good so far.

We have imagined ourselves invulnerable and have been consumed by the pursuit of financial gain. The focus of many in America has been on the pursuit of health, wealth, material pleasures and sexuality. Sadly, those in the churches have been as self-indulgent as those in the world.

We have allowed rampant pornography on the Internet, and rampant secularism and the occult, etc. to be broadcast on television. We have permitted somewhere in the neighborhood of 35-40 million unborn babies to be slaughtered by our society.

We have a court that has essentially stuck its finger in God’s eye and said, “We are going to legislate You out of the schools and take Your commandments from the courthouses in various states. We are not going to let little children read the commandments of God. We are not going to allow the Bible or prayer in our schools.

We have insulted God at the highest level of our government. Then, we say, “Why does this happen?” It is happening because God Almighty is lifting His protection from us. Once that protection is gone, we are vulnerable because we are a free society.”

Everything he said was true until the last sentences.

Once bestowed, God never lifts His protection. God always helps when we ask, always. His protection is eternally there. We may foolishly refuse it but he never lifts it from us.

We have aborted 60 million unborn and removed God from the public schools and various public places. We are no longer asking God for His protection; instead, America has rejected God.

Just because Pat Robertson is politically identified with conservatism, doesn't mean, he was ever a friend of the free market or understands how a free economy operates. So, any so-called move by Robertson to the Left and support for Obama's idiotic 'stimulus' bill to be taken as a sign, he's giving up conservatism, is nonsense.

Pat Robertson wrote a book entitled "The New World Order" back in '91. It was a mish-mash of conspiracy theories and thoughts that the bankers ran the world. This isn't free market thought.

Yeah, bankers don’t run the world. Keep believing that.

What makes “free markets” work? Bankers with lost of cpaital to lend. Why have we spent an unprecendented amount of money bailing out banks, with almost no questions asked?

Maybe you are ignorant of the facts. Abraham Lincoln and the Senate Believed In God’s Judgment Upon USA:

WHEREAS, The Senate of the United States; devoutly recognizing the Supreme authority and just government of Almighty God in all the affairs of men and nations, has, by a resolution, requested the President to designate and set apart a day for National prayer and humiliation.

And Whereas, it is the duty of nations, as well as of men, to owe their dependence upon the overruling power of God, to confess their sins and transgressions, in humble sorrow, yet with assured hope that genuine repentance will lead to mercy and pardon, and to recognize the sublime truth announced in the Holy Scriptures and proven by all history, that those nations only are blessed whose God is the Lord.

And, inasmuch as we know that by His Divine law, nations, like individuals, are subjected to punishments and chastisements in this world, may we not justly fear that the awful calamity of civil war, which now desolates the land, may be but a punishment inflicted upon us for our presumptuous sins, to the needful end of our national reformation as a whole people?

We have been the recipients of the choicest bounties of Heaven. We have been preserved these many years in peace and prosperity. We have grown in numbers, wealth, and power as no other nation has ever grown.

BUT WE HAVE FORGOTTEN GOD.

(snip)
Done at the city of Washington the 30th day of March, in the year of our Lord 1863.

I'm quite aware of Lincoln's statement and also of the prophets who sometimes warned of God's judgment against Israel.

But back to my question—apart from the profanities uttered in Chicago, how is Pat Roberstson’s statement substantively different from the rant uttered by Rev. Wright?

That’s just the spin of the haters. The media never reports the intended meaning of a non-liberal person.

I don’t agree with Robertson and he talks too much. But, he’s saying what everyone else in Washington is saying - so far Obama hasn’t been as extreme as they expected.

I think they are foolish for thinking it, but it is just human nature for them to try to make the best of the situation they find themselves in. They aren’t ready to go to war against socialism.

We should just stay away from hate and heated emotion because we conservatives are going in circles. Our energy should go against the liberals in charge.

No, I rather think it parallels the loss of brain cells in the aging process. (Not that money is not always involved) I have heard Billy Graham say some pretty far out things as well. Then there is the whole Barry Goldwater melt down when he took on his Trophy Wife in his old age.

2Ch 7:14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

Maybe not, but apparently you can abandon God, and not without consequences.

Salvation for the individual however, is in my opinion, irrevocable.

'Free Markets' -- why the quotation marks? Unless you are admitting that the US banking system is not an example of a free market. The role of government in a free market is to enforce legal contracts, defend the peace and punish theft, fraud and aggressive violence. In the US banking system, the government creates money out of thin air, which is theft of value from everyone else, who has money. Because that new money has the same value as the old money, but wealth has not increased, it has just reduced the value of everyone's money.

This is inflation and this is what causes the business cycle. It is not the free market.

I would take issue with some of that. The government isn’t the one that creates money out of thin air, but the banks. Read up on the fractional reserve banking system. The Fed reigns in this money creation ability by several different actions on banks, but it is the banks that truly create new money supply by lending money they don’t have.
