I’m guessing that the person writing the article doesn’t really understand the science of it. What’s likely actually happening with the car is that it’s a standard plug in electric car. The solar and the wind turbines help charge either the battery or the supercapacitor or whatever.

I’d assume that the turbines do provide some benefit. It’s hard to design a car with zero drag, so they’re making some use of the drag that’s there.

“However, Wild Weasel electronic systems are powered by these generators.”

Many modern airplanes have these little auxiliary power generators should they lose power. They don’t use them in normal flight.

Unless of course you are referring the turbine blades in their engines.

Ha ha ha ha! What idiots.

But by golly, if any car looks like it could invalidate the 1st and 2nd laws, this is it s\.

They has done stoled muh invention! Posted here on Jan 4th to establish my priority of rights! Just because they call it a “turbine” instead of a “windmill”, doesn't mean it is any different. After all, a ‘wind mill” is also called a “wind turbine”!

1. Start with an electric motor & necessary gearing in each hub, wired to provide for regenerative braking..

2. Place 1500 pounds of batteries in the vehicle, distributed to compensate for no engine.

3. Use solar panels on the roof to charge the batteries when not driving.

4. Mount a windmill on the trunk.

The batteries get you moving; as you move, the windmill starts turning, producing power to supplement the solar panels, until moving fast enough for the windmill to take over completely. The faster you go, the faster the windmill spins, and the more power available.

This system is fool proof, and will be available on the market just as soon as I am able to find enough suckers green investors, along with necessary grant money and subsidies, to develop the Inertial Damper necessary to reduce the drag from the windmill sufficiently.

Did you remember to set the Interlocks to “ON”, before engaging the turbos?

Loved watching that show.

I’m thinking of starting a league of engineers to review these press stories. Here’s my idea:

First, we drink a whole lot of beer.

Then we climb up onto a tall building as the alternative energy yahoos are holding a parade/rally below us...

You had me at "whole lot of beer".

Yea, I know. Most of my fellow engineers would say “What more needs me said?”

At engineering school, back when the drinking age was 18, we’d have these beer blasts. Consider this: There were about 3,000 undergrads at our school. There was one frat (TEP, which was dominated by EE’s) that would hold their [in]famous 1,000 keg beer blast every autumn.

And they’d go through all the beer in one day.

When confronted by the town fathers, the response would be: “Engineering is thirsty work, mayor...”

And so it is here.
