Intense Cold Blast to hit in 2 waves

Arctic Air Floods Chicago to New York City Arctic air bottled up over Alaska will soon be unleashed over the Midwest and East. The cold air will arrive in two waves this week. The second surge threatens to be the harshest and farthest reaching.

The first shot of arctic air will plunge into the northern Plains behind a clipper system today. The bitterly cold air will spread across the Midwest and Deep South on Tuesday and the Northeast on Wednesday.

The second blast of cold will come from even deeper in the arctic. It will follow close behind the first, spreading into the northern Plains on Wednesday. On Thursday and Friday, the coldest air of the season will spread across the Midwest and the East.

"A pair of Alberta clippers (called that because of their fast movement and origin in the Canadian province of Alberta) will bring snow, wind, and colder temperatures to the Midwest this week: the first one moving through today.

This first clipper will bring a round of snow from the Plains to the western Great Lakes today, then from the Mississippi River eastward tonight.

Gusty winds will accompany this snow, leading to blowing snow that will greatly reduce visibilities leading to blizzard or near blizzard conditions.

Some leftover snow and wind from this system will be in the central Great Lakes and Upper Ohio Valley tomorrow, while the second clipper will begin to dive southward into the Northern Plains.

This second clipper will also bring snow and gusty winds, but will also bring much colder air behind it for mid to late week.

Highs today will range from near zero in northern North Dakota and northern Minnesota to around 50 in southern Kansas and southern Missouri. "

Well, the GW crowd has to keep their grants coming, so their new mantra is going to be Solar Storms. I love the acronym implication on that (SS). It’s so fitting.

Anyway, Solar Storms science has more fact behind it than GW ever had, but NASA is getting itself into a hissy fit already, predicting technology disaster as soon as 2015. Get ready for the new religion. And get prepared for a new wave of demands for government interference.

I declare it incumbent on EVERY right thinking American who “claims” to be concerned about his fellow man. At once, those of you who are possessors of the hated SUV’s get out there, start your engines and keep them running. I charge the owners of HUMMERS with the same task.
Without the heat increasing efforts of right minded people, we will see New York and the population centers of the norther tier of the USA under a half mile thick sheet of ice by mid-April. Alert!! Alert!!

It’s mostly hitting blue states.

So I say good aim, Sarah.

There was a show about that on TV last night (I believe the History Channel). I watched about 5 minutes and tuned out. When I heard that they played a game similar to basketball in order to beat the bad gods, that was enough.

Solar storms have been around as long as the sun. So has solar quiescence, that we’ve been in lately. Perhaps our tech infrastructure is more broad that before, but I have my doubts on what affect increased solar activity will have on it. I suspect there’s more to worry about what with projected decreases in temperatures over this next cycle, as anything.

We’re supposed to have a high of 28 here in NW IL today but by tonight, blizzard conditions, and a high of 2 degrees tomorrow.

I hate winter.

They would sacrifice the losers.

Actually, they weren't sure whether it was the leader of the losing team, or the winning team, that was beheaded after the "game". "Experts" disagree.

It was on at the same time as 24. I watched 24 and only switched to this once during commercials. Once was enough...
