What are the golden globes for anyway? It looks like movies, but don’t the oscars cover that? Is golden globes just a “me too” award? And I think the emmies are for tv...right?
Last week we had the Peoples’ Choice Awards followed the next night by the Critics’ Choice Awards. Last nights Globes were voted on by the international press corps and the Oscars are voted on by the unionized actors, directors, camermen, etc.
The GGs were the joke of Hollywood (they gave Pia Zadora "Newcomer of the Year") until just a couple of years ago when the Weinstein brothers launched an ad campaign to win Oscars for their Miramax movies by claiming the GGs were precursors to the Academy Awards. Suddenly the GGs were relevant and NBC started airing them in primetime.
