Obama's Intelligence Adviser Involved in Security Breach

Monday, January 12, 2009 1:46 PM

Obama’s top terrorism and intelligence adviser, John O. Brennan, heads a firm that was cited in March for breaching sensitive files in the State Department’s passport office, according to a State Department Inspector General’s report released this past July.

The security breach, first reported by the Washington Times and later confirmed by State Department spokesman Sean McCormack, involved a contract employee of Brennan’s firm, The Analysis Corp., which has earned millions of dollars providing intelligence-related consulting services to federal agencies and private companies.

During a State Department briefing on March 21, 2008, McCormack confirmed that the contractor had accessed the passport files of presidential candidates Barack Obama, Hillary Rodham Clinton, and John McCain, and that the inspector general had launched an investigation.

Sources who tracked the investigation tell Newsmax that the main target of the breach was the Obama passport file, and that the contractor accessed the file in order to “cauterize” the records of potentially embarrassing information.

“They looked at the McCain and Clinton files as well to create confusion,” one knowledgeable source told Newsmax. “But this was basically an attempt to cauterize the Obama file.”

At the time of the breach, Brennan was working as an unpaid adviser to the Obama campaign.

"This individual's actions were taken without the knowledge or direction of anyone at The Analysis Corp. and are wholly inconsistent with our professional and ethical standards," Brennan’s company said in a statement sent to reporters after the passport breach was made public.

You said — “Thank J rob if they don’t show up!”

Actually, you can thank MacWorld for that... LOL... It is interesting how people make up the most outlandish explanations for the most boring of “actual reasons”... isn’t it? But, that’s very typical for the “conspiracy minded” anyway; it’s almost like they’re looking for witch doctor type of answers... :-)

I just got back on yesterday and haven’t had time to catch up with everything yet. It takes a while for me..., but I eventually get there... :-)

I’ve been posting on some other stuff but I’m glad someone called me in here...

You said — “Yes, where is the FBI and where the you know what is the Supreme Court?”

This thing happened way back when — “During a State Department briefing on March 21, 2008, McCormack confirmed that the contractor had accessed the passport files of presidential candidates Barack Obama, Hillary Rodham Clinton, and John McCain, and that the inspector general had launched an investigation.”

It’s been investigated and we’ve got Secretary of State Rice involved (”Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice phoned Obama and personally apologized for the breach. ‘I told him that I myself would be very disturbed if I learned that somebody had looked into my passport file,’ Rice told reporters.”), the State Department Inspector General (OIG) issuing a 104-page report on the breach last July, and the State Department (in general, saying “The State Department chalked up the passport file snooping discovered in March 2008 to ‘imprudent curiosity’ by contract employees hired to help process passport applications”), and Acting Assistant secretary for administration William H. Moser sent a six-page reply in regards to the recommendations for correcting this type of breach.

Now, with all those people and agencies and investigations going on, it would seem *very apparent* that if there is a violation of the Constitutional requirements for the office of President of the United States (which would be clear from the passport), this item would be known by all those people, and it goes right back to George Bush.

Bush is sworn to uphold the Constitution, and obviously since he doesn’t see a problem there (and is in a position *to know* for sure, and “especially so” with Secretary of State Rice, being involved in this and being directly under President Bush) — that this is fairly clear evidence that there isn’t a problem. If there was, President Bush would be *duty-bound* to uphold the Constitution.

Of course, there are people like Berg, who think that Bush was involved in the attack of 9/11, too. And I suppose..., there will be people here who will say Bush is also “involved” in the conspiracy to hide the information about Obama not being qualified under the Constitutional requirements...

It’s amazing what conspiracy theorists will come up with, it seems...

“Reading the Newsmax piece it notes that the full report (heavily redacted for the public) of the State Department Inspector General was turned over to the Senate ...Committee headed by Sen. Joe Biden. So now we know why Biden was selected as he has the goods.”

Sounds right to me! Obama and his team cover things well.

Sen. Burris of Illinois: While reading and listening about the Senate debate on whether or not Burris had the correct credentials to be seated in the Senate, I started to wonder about the the credentials of other Senators and if such credentials were part of the public record.

1. A Senator must be at least 30 years old and an American citizen.

2. The 2 Senators in each of our states: I wonder how each Senator verified that he/she was 30 years old and an American citizen.

3. For instance, does each state have a special folder somewhere that holds all the legal documents provided by each Senator that proves that he/she is 30 years old and an American citizen?

4. We posters should try something like this: We should write to each of our Senators and simply ask this question: What documents did you provide state officials BEFORE election day that prove that you were at least 30 years old and an American citizen?

5. In addition, we should contact state government officials to find out if they have a special folder for each Senator that holds legal documents that prove that the Senator is at least 30 years old and an American citizen.

6. Obama: For instance, what legal documents did Obama provide Illinois—documents that Illinois should have in a permanent file somewhere—-that proved that he was at least 30 years old and an American citizen when he ran for U.S.?

7. Or, did the state of Illinois simply take Obama’s word that he was at least 30 years old and an American citizen, and so it did not require Obama to provide any legal documents?

8. Part of the public record: Shouldn’t Senator Obama’s documents that prove that he is at least 30 years old and an American citizen be part of the public record?

9. Burris of Illinois: Shouldn’t his credentials that prove that he is at least 30 years old and an American citizen be part of the public record?

10. What about Sen. Reid of Nevada: Shouldn’t the legal documents that prove that he is at least 30 years old and an American citizen be part of the public record?

11. Again, a suggestion: Contact your state officials and see if you can get copies of your 2 Senators’ legal documents that prove that they are at least 30 years old and an American citizen as required by the U.S. Constitution.

12. As I see it, such eligibility records of each U.S. Senator should be part of the public record in each state.

13. For instance, I wonder what legal documents Sen. Durbin of Illinois provided Illinois officials that prove that he is at least 30 years old and an American citizen.

I agree with what you say; except for the conspriacy theory. Berg could be suspect as far as that is concerned. I don’t quite know what to think about Rice and her actions; and maybe Bush knows or doesn’t know.

This would have never blown up if Obama had honestly released information about himself. Instead he spends a bunch of money to hide everything. Says hardly anything about his family. Of course if there is a real conspiracy theory; it could lie with Obama and his group to distract us or make it look like we are conspiring. So who knows.

I do believe the question of the bc and passport are valid; as they do affect our Constitution. We don’t want and shouldn’t want anyone ineligible in office. There are just to many unanswered questions about Obama and to little experience on his side for him to become POTUS.

Is that ‘cauterized’ or ‘Carterized’ like when Jimmy Carter ‘fixed’ John F’n Kerry’s military records?

I wouldn’t count on the evidence being destroyed by now. Saved to use as blackmail, in all probability.

The factcheck photos of the COLB were created around the same time as the passport break in. Remember the exif data?

Brennan was originally going to be nominated for a bigger position, but he declined so that he wouldn’t become a distraction (or so he said). Probably he would have to be confirmed (and maybe grilled) in a hearing. This new position may not require confirmation.

Biden headed the committee that has oversight of the passport agency. Obama specifically requested that the oversight committees be involved in the investigation of the breach. Now Biden is Obama’s VP.

The report is heavily redacted. Check it out. Pages and pages of black boxes. Might it be available under the FOIA?

Heads up:

Star Traveler is a Obama communication jammer and will drain your brain to dilute any negative Obama reports.

There may be multiple posters under the name of Star Traveler—seems they are dispatched whenever a hot Obama story surfaces.

Apparently there is some perverse delight by this “entity” in building notoriety by using the moniker ‘Star Traveler’...although many of us know that it appears under other psuedo screeen names as well. But “Star Traveler” is the pet name.

I would not waste a molecule of energy on this thing—it is deisgned to obscure, confound and create circular, exhausting arguments.

Or he might be the next head of the CIA under the Obama. Democrats don’t prosecute their heroes.

Interesting,,,I remember this passport mess but I don't remember O’Bammy connected to it...

Obama was the one who screamed the loudest. It didn't make sense because he was the least well known person whose file was accessed yet he made the biggest fuss over it.

You have to know there have been a lot of intelligence agencies in a full court press over Obama’s passport, birth certificate, etc.

If Obama is not being blackmailed already, he will be soon. Any bets on who will be first? China, Israel, Russia?

I agree that it’s a steaming pile, but I just can’t keep up with all the trolls.

Someone with that much faith in the goodness of those who are in guvmint service strikes me as extraordinarily gullible or disingenuine in a Clintonian way.

One thing for lurkers to keep in mind is that passports just report citizenship, not Natural Born Status. My wife has a US passport and she was born in Taiwan. Of course, if she’d wanted to, and knowing what we now know about the Hawaiian CoLB process, she could have picked up a CoLB from Hawaii and very likely have a passport that shows her being born in Hawaii.
