Ford CEO Alan Mulally says he still likes the tiny European Ka for the U.S. portfolio. His senior staff isnt so sure. Global product chief Derrick Kuzak and chief marketing officer James Farley get suspiciously quiet, and you can almost see their eyes roll when the subject comes up. Kuzak even smirks over it. The Ka is a bit of a cause with Mulally. But he says he defers to Kuzak on such things in the end. However, lets not forget, Mulally pretty much brought the Taurus back to life by his sheer will. Ford insiders say there is no business case for Federalizing the Ka for U.S. safety and emissions, and pricing it for profit in the U.S. after its gets exported from Europe.

This is a fairly HIGH VOLUME ping list on some days.....
The Ka is a P.O.S. You have to see it next to a real car to appreciate how tiny it is. The Brits HATE it.
Have a garage full of Ka Ka.
LMAO!
It doesn't use Lucas!:)
Ka-runch

Ka-reamed

It can’t be worse than the old Ford Aspire that I drove for 10 years and lived to tell the tale.............
Ka-BOOM...............
A S**tbox.
Don’t go ultra-small, just sell us the same damn diesels you do in Europe. Is that too much to freaking ask?
Fiesta should be Festiva.
I agree. GM could do it with their Saturn division because it is basically the American branch of Opel/Vuaxhall and there are a number of Diesel Opels and Vauxhalls. Ford could sell their Euro Diesels here. Hell, if they sold the Euro Sport Focus here in the States that would be a damned sight better than the underpowered Focus that we get here.
Other than the fact that my Aspire was a deathtrap, it was a pertty good old car. Just back and forth to work and around town, no highway trips.
My husband had his first visit to Europe last month. He was really mad at how many cars (or variations of the same cars) they had that we can’t get here.
“Fiesta should be Festiva.”
Same car, really ..........

IIRC, it's a matter of the quality of diesel we refine, not the cars.
A Brit friend of mine, retired from the RN, got married for the first time at about age 55. His new wife had never learned to drive, so he bought her a Ka and set about the task of teaching her how to drive. She burned out the clutch before she got the hang of it. My suggestion was that he just cut holes in the floorboards so she could do the Fred Flintstone thing.
I currently drive a 97 Aspire 5speed.
Love it, wish they still made them.
Mine is about to hit 100K, I’d replace it w/ a Ka in a heart beat (with the diesel preferably).
Ford has a long track record of building tough little cars.
I just wish they would build them here.
the 97 Aspire has had in 11+years under $2500 direct heavy maint (half shafts, clutch (1) and a pair of brake jobs).
still gets over 35mpg on the highway (ave speeds 65/70mph).
