Obama Chooses Gay Bishop for Big Inaugural Event

And now the latest installment in “As Obama’s Faith World Turns”

President-Elect Barack Obama has chosen a controversial gay bishop to give the invocation this Sunday at the big inaugural event at the Lincoln Memorial. Obama will be in attendance.

More from the Politico below and then get my analysis.

The Rt. Rev. V. Gene Robinson of New Hampshire, who became the Episcopal Church's first openly gay bishop in 2003 and last year entered into a civil union with his gay partner, will deliver the invocation for Sunday's kickoff inaugural event on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial, with President-elect Obama in attendance. The event is free and open to the public. An Obama source: 'Robinson was in the plans before the complaints about Rick Warren. Many skeptics will read this as a direct reaction to the Warren criticism – but it's just not so.' Robinson has been referred to as 'the most controversial Christian in the world.' A Sewanee graduate!

Christianity is not a religion

Exactly.. "Narrow is the path and few are those who find it."

Obama needs that gay bishop for a specific service before inauguration: Barack Hussein wants to undergo the ritual of disexorcism, the ancient Gay Episcopalian rite whereby instead of being cast out, the devil is sucked in to take full possession of body and soul.

Picking a church leader who has total disregard for his institution’s founding documents seems a perfect metaphor for the inauguration of this president.

And another example of O’s complete lack of claimed judgment and complete inability to pick a credible competent representative of any given field especially in the realm of spirituality.

"ancient Gay Episcopalian rite..."

The Episcopal denomination of Christianity is only a few hundred years old. Hardly ancient.

I've never heard of this rite. I doubt any Episcopalian has, either.

Frankly, there is nothing that this POS will ever do that won’t outrage me.

I will stay outraged until he and his gang had been taken out with the trash.

who cares if he picks the nuns in drag for his inaugural?

If he picks a gay communist, it's his choice. I could care less who or what he choses for anything.

Why are the threads so "shocked" by who or what he picks for his cabinet or for moral support. He is who he is.

He's a community organizer with little or no executive experience that won a lottery ticket. The job of POTUS is going to destroy him. He's a "Vince Young" starting in the Super Bowl without his momma to help him.

Guess what? This is "Big Boy" school now, Barak. Momma ain't here to wipe your a##. You can't vote "present". This is going to be funny. I'm going to live through another Jimmy Carter. I wonder which one of his relatives will have a beer named after him?

Pelosi and Reid are just going to try and destroy our country, Barak is going to sign off on it and the MSM is going to tell us how great everything is and what a great legacy he'll leave behind.

I'm just going to hunker down, spend nothing and hold on for 4 years.

Robinson is a false teacher. Rick Warren needs to go off script and call him to account face to face, then in the presence of one witness, then several. Should he persist and continue to desire to go ahead and lead this “prayer”, Warren should factually expose this man’s perversion(s) in front of the nation.
Robinson fails to meet the biblical qualifications for the office of teacher/preacher, much less bishop/elder. It is like allowing a pedophile to become a pediatrician, then closing one’s eyes as child after child is molested under the guise of “medicine”
Disgusting turn of events

Now, I believe that homosexuality is a sin like any other. I have had addictions, and have sinned in the past. I would welcome a homosexual to church with open arms just as I would welcome a thief to church, or a drug addict, an adulterer etc... in the hopes that they will break the cycle of their addiction. But, it's one thing to welcome a sinner to church in the hopes that they will find the power in God to stop sinning, and it's another to have a sinner who sins in his relationship with another man to lead a congregation! I would not have the thief or the drug addict or the adulterer who does not try to abstain from his addiction preaching the Word of God either. It's madness!

Given the Episcopal philosophy that God looks at all sin as black or white (IOW, no sin greater than another) I, too, have no problem with someone in the church being gay. But I do have a problem with someone, like Vikie Gene, glorifying homosexuality as not being sinful. In my opinion Vikie Gene doesn't want to be Bishop Robinson; he wants to be Jackie Robinson!
Now I strongly suspect, just as with the Roman Church, there are probably many other unmarried Episcopal priests and bishops who are gay. But most of them, like their Roman betheren have kept their mouths shut and stayed in the closet in a "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" mentality of privacy. And that goes to really the issue here because a person's sex life is and, of right, ought to be a private matter. Yet Vikie Gene has made his a public one thereby violating, IMHO, the first requirement to be in a leadership position: A bishop must love the church.

Stuff like this nonsense makes me glad that we don't have a "Church of America" (which I guess since the Episcopalians were an offshoot of the Church of England -- could very well have been the Church of America)!

Agree...the evidence is that the Washington National Cathedral is an Episcopal church.
