They weren’t terrorists, they were revolutionaries. And if they had been unsuccessful in their revolt, they would have been executed as enemies of the state.

Does anyone have a problem with that?

The radicals in the 1960s were staging a revolt on behalf of the USSR as well. In war time. They engaged in treason against the state, on behalf of foreign enemies engaged in war. They should have been executed for their crimes. Bill Ayers, Jane Fonda, and even John Kerry who lied to Congress with false allegations of war crimes (even he now says that was the talk of an angry young man and discounts the notion that they were “war crimes). Treason is defined as a crime in our constitution.

Now those who bombed, rioted, shot at police, robbed banks to fund their covert war, are running our government and schools. I don’t feel any safer. Kerry’s organization even plotted to assassinated members of Congress until there was no more support for the war in Vietnam. These creeps should never have gotten anywhere close to the White House.

The media did America a horrible disservice by not discussing “the past”. These things are far worse than a decades old DWI charge.

Doesn’t make me mad at all. There’s a huge difference in how a terrorist was defined then vs now, and methods used in their fight.

I do think America has died. It has been stolen by the communists and all we seem to be able to do is grieve.

If you were loyal to the Crown then they were just a bunch of rebel terrorist.

Terrorism is a particular tactic.

Our founders did not try to blow up English school children in London to sap the British will to rule America. We hit military targets in a direct attempt to reduce their capacity to make war against us and suppress rebellion, not to terrorize their populace into acquiescence.

Can you follow this simple logic?

"THIS IS A SLAP IN THE FACE OF FREEDOM!"

More like a kick in the private parts.

OTOH, the speaker is probably on obambi's short list for a key security policy position.

Not so. The definition of a terrorist is one who engages in destructive measures against civilian populations (primarily) to incite fear... hence the name "terrorist".

Our Founding Fathers were revolutionaries. They engaged the British head-on and sought to win actual military contests against military foes.

The fact that any so-called Americans would agree with this article that our founding fathers were terrorists tells me that America if not already dead is on life support.

The only terrorists 200 years ago were the British. That story in the movie ‘The Patriot’ where the Brits burn a bunch of colonists in a church? True story. British officer named Tarleton was absolutely brutal in North Carolina and pushed many ‘patriots’ into becoming patriots by his actions. Its British brutality at that time towards CIVILIANS that caused many Americans to turn against the crown. It wasn’t just taxation.

My patriot ancestors must be turning over in their graves. And yes - I’m a member of the D.A.R. I don’t even begin to know how to respond to this I’m so angry.

I’d put the Founding Fathers at about the 4th terrorist organization in our country.

French backed Native American raiding parties,
Privateers and pirates along the seacoast,
The French settlers who took up raiding during the French and Indian War.
Then the Founding Fathers of Massachusetts and South Carolina.

That is if you allow the Native American Confederations the dignity to call them organized fighting forces that fought under a banner and wore their traditional warrior class accoutrements and insignia in battle.

The patriots did indiscriminately place cannon volleys into loyalist neighborhoods in lower Manhattan.
Different patriot militias did perform terrorist attacks on civilian populations that were either neutral or Loyalist. That is the story of the Revolution from Lake Champlain down to the south Jersey farmlands. We’re talking full on raiding parties that killed civilians, burned and looted buildings, burned food stores and stole livestock. And they especially enjoyed shooting all the dogs.

“If you were loyal to the Crown then they were just a bunch of rebel terrorist.”

That’s nonsense. The word “terrorist” has a specific meaning. It refers to people who purposely target civilian population in order to strike fear in people’s hearts. I’ll grant you that our Founders used unconventional warfare. But how could they target their enemy’s civilian population? The theater of war was entirely within the Colonies. The patriots WERE the civilians.

Ethan Allen and Francis Marion harrassing regular troops doesn’t count. The only civilians we could have possibly attacked were the Indians and the Tories. I’m aware that we stole land from loyalists, invaded Canada and attacked their forts, and skirmished with various tribes. I am not aware of any terror campaigns against the aforementioned parties.

Now, if this fella had claimed Sherman’s “total war,” FDR’s Dresden campaign, Truman’s Hiroshima and Nagasaki, or LBJ’s Rolling Thunder were terroristic, we’d at least have an argument. Not so with the Founders.

“Our founders did not try to blow up English school children in London to sap the British will to rule America.”

Missing this obvious point is what makes this guy a moron. The war was over here. We lacked the ability to attack British civilians. It would have required three months travel, with good whether. Plus, I hear the British navy was pretty good.

That leaves the Tories and the Indians. We were too busy fighting the redcoats to bother with killing their women and children.
