Alaska seeks to block U.S. protections for belugas

ANCHORAGE, Alaska, Jan 14 (Reuters) - Five months after suing to keep polar bears off the U.S. threatened species list, Alaska's government said Wednesday it plans to issue a similar challenge to block federal protections for a struggling population of beluga whales in Cook Inlet, a mature oil-producing basin.

Former vice presidential hopeful Gov. Sarah Palin said the energy-rich state believes the Endangered Species Act protections for belugas announced in October by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration are unwarranted.

C’mon Sarah have a heart, you let your daughter have unprotected sex before marriage

This comment suggests that you are obviously grossly unfamiliar with biology and parenting. How can she prevent once her daughter does something stupid? Do you suggest putting cameras on kids? Do you jump between two teenagers in the middle of the act to "prevent" the pregnancy? I can't quite follow your logic... but then again there is probably none.

And most importantly, WTH has this to do with belugas or her job as Governor?

You are as pathetic as you are petty.

“While challenging the listing, we will continue to protect beluga whales,” said Governor Palin. “We will also be assisting Alaskan communities and stakeholders with navigating the complex bureaucratic process this listing decision imposes on their projects and working cooperatively with federal agencies on the required consultations, designations of critical habitat and development of a recovery plan and objectives.”

This is not about "hunting" belugas, it's about keeping out undue federal involvement.

As a physician, I take unprotected sex VERY seriously. Often it’s directly related to how casual the parent is about sex education, the effects of pre-marital (and unprotected) sex and morality. Yes, things happen, but often the parent knows when their kid is having sex and if so, then making sure they are using protection! Remember this isn’t you/me and any other average joe, this about someone you want to serve as President - so I would assume you’d want them to be on top of their family. As for my parenting, I think I’m a great dad and you know what? My teenage daughter is not pregnant and I believe is still abstaining.

She (like all other parent) cannot put surveillance on her daughter. Teenage kids do stupid things. It took maybe one intimate moment... and who says they didn't use cotraceptives? Condoms can fail... so can the pill. To blame it on her parenting is inane.

And a personal failure has NOTHING to do with her job as Governor.

Your previous comment was callous, insinuating sneeringly that her daughter's pregnancy makes her unqualified to decide on BELUGAS! A little bit more intellectual honesty please.

I caught the end of one of those PBS shows where the guy is dressed up in the old clothes and was speaking as Teddy Roosevelt in the first person going over his history, life stories, etc. Very interesting stuff (he’s done Lewis & Clark, etc.).

I’m not sure how “wild” Bristol is, but “Teddy” was talking about his wild daughter Alice.

She was wont to party, smoke, drove a “Jalopy - alone!”, etc. (When told she couldn’t smoke in the WH, she climbed up on its roof to smoke!) When asked why he couldn’t control his daughter Teddy said: “I can handle Rachael. And I can handle the Presidency. But not both at the same time.”

Once a guy that Alice was engaged to drove his jalopy out to the President’s home on Oyster Bay. He was drunk, carrying two pistols, and crashed into the home’s deck on his visit to see Alice. The Secret Service got him, and Teddy came out in his bathrobe to see the commotion. The Secret Service guys told Teddy that this man was obviously insane and the doctors would be called. Teddy replied “Of course he’s insane - he wants to marry my daughter!”

I’m not sure how Bristol ranks along side “Alice”. But I do have an idea how Sarah ranks alongside Teddy.

As for my parenting,(blah, blah, blah)

You already posted on your homepage that you blame Palin for McCain's failure, so cut the crap about giving a rat's azz about teen sex.

You just can't handle the fact that Palin lit the base up, while a great many Republicans were going to stay home before she showed up, because we can't stand RINOs. Having the disposition of a spoiled 3 year old, you resort to debased and senseless character assassination of a family who's not here to defend themselves. I don't believe you are either a physician or father, because nothing you have written lends credibility to that. If you were a father, you wouldn't be so quick to assume you can "control" them and "make sure" they are using protection.

Besides, you just did a bang up job of proving that you'd fall on your face if something like an unplanned pregnancy happened in your family, and instead of one more loved child in the household like the Palin family, you'd be burning rubber to get her to PP, to get things back under "control".

To accuse me, a physician, of ever thinking of taking my daughter to a Planned Parenthood is appalling and frankly very out of line. In fact, you accuse me of acting like a three year old and then you come back with this. To me, your assertion just made you the ignorant lug. See I know what I have on my message board and I do believe she had some effet on the campaign (pro and con). But to say that the other half (remember buddy my vote in the Republican party is just as much as yours so get over that). Anyway, I commend Palin’s daughter for having the child and would do the same if the unplanned pregnancy occurred with my daughter. However, I would hope you would agree that if you accept Sarah’s daughter’s unplanned pregnancy done out of wedlock (why hasn’t she married yet - Sarah could do the ceremony?) that this isn’t exactly the preference of order of what you expect out of a leader’s family.

How the he!! would you know what to expect out of a leader's family anymore than you know how to mind your own imaginary family, instead of the crusade you've launched on FR heckling Sarah Palin and her daughter?

That's all you do here, so I assume that's all you do at home and if you have a job, you're probably making people crazy with your Palin fetish. You are obsessed with slandering Sarah Palin and her family. If you don't belive me, read all your posts about Sarah to someone on the bus tommorrow, don't tell 'em who wrote them, and ask them why someone would carry on that way. Write down the answer, then tell them that you're the one who's been writing all those posts. Carefully document their reaction, put your notes in an envelope, seal the envelope, and put it in your top dresser drawer, then seal that. I suggest you buy yourself a small treat for every day that goes by without blurting out Sarah's name or sticking your tongue out at her daughter (no knife notches!), and I hope you get over this, but once you have that drawer with the envelope sealed up, forget about it.

When you’re in Chicago feel free to stop by my residence and my exam office for that matter. I’ll be happy to show you my imaginary existence. As for what you consider my crusade on Sarah - that’s your opinion - mine is that I feel she is NOT the only candidate and that in my free republic opinion she is NOT worthy of the office. Enough said bucko?

Naw, I'll pass. Can't stand the smell of trolls, and I'm a tad busy. Perhaps you should show your daughter how you like to attack other people's daughters and see how that sticks with her.

Maybe sitting around judging teenage girls and their parents is already the kitchen table topic of choice in your house?

Ok - the offer stands whenever you find yourself in the Windy City area. Please remember Sarah is not you or me - she’s a candidate for President of the USA. I like you have a right to examine all issues - including character, family, parenting, on job performance, education, etc. She like any other - Huckabee (who I prefer), Romney (who I prefer), Jindal (who I prefer), etc - has to be held to a higher standard and more scrutiny - otherwise you get someone who has to spend more time righting their family ship than steering the country.
