Federal Court Upholds Wiretap Law (Will those with BDS and MSM now offer front page apologies?)

A U.S. Foreign Intelligence court released a ruling Thursday upholding the right of the president and Congress to wiretap private international phone conversations and intercept e-mail messages without a court-issued warrant.

The Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Appeals Court released an unclassified version of an August 2008 ruling that seems to validate President George W. Bush's claim that the government can act without court orders in gathering foreign intelligence.

The Bush administration came under heated criticism three years ago when a National Security Agency's program for warrantless eavesdropping was revealed. In 2007, Congress passed the Protect America Act, which authorized the executive branch to eavesdrop on international communication without court orders. The ruling released Thursday dealt with that law.

An unnamed telecommunications company challenged the constitutionality of the Protect America Act law last year, but the FISA court ruled that Congress acted within its authority when it passed the law.

No. MSM will absorb..ignore and continue on searching for new lows. Unless no one has noticed everything in the USA is on a death spiral to find new lows. The MSM celebates evry one of them.

Pretty much. We constantly argued against the PATRIOT Act for a reason but no one would listen.

I question the timing. Nothing happens by accident when it comes to the jive talking Osama-Obama.

It’s interesting to me that the decision comes right at the end of the Bush administration. The liberal hearing officers did not want to admit that the law allowed this kind of wiretap while Bush was President because they wanted to restrict his powers and let the Democrats use the issue as political fodder. Now that Bush is gone and Obama is in control, they are ready to hand over the keys to the store to their guy.

I'm sure Pelosi, Reid, Feinstein and the other congressional idiots are preparing the appeals to strip Obama of this violation of law. /sarc other than the “congressional idiots” part.

Of course this has nothing to do with the Patriot act.

"...ruling that seems to validate President George W. Bush's claim..."

CBS really choked in getting that sentence out I'll bet.

My first thought, too. Disputed executive power upheld just in time for Obama. Soon: IRS agents’ right to come into your home and sleep with your wife without a warrant upheld by federal court.

I know, I know. I was just making the point that these executive powers granted for the WOT is going to come back to bite us in the ass.
