Sorry we don’t live under a dicattor in this country. If they try that, I do fear there will be a 2nd revolution.

Yes, I believe that our political traditions are quite a bit different from Venezuala's. And, after I've taken a fast look at the history of Venezuela, I believe it even more.

Our political traditions, yes. Our leftists, not so much. We are in uncharted waters - do not succumb to the complacency of an "it can't happen here" attitude. Look no further than the erosion of the 2nd amendment for an example of what's happening to our "political traditions".

also:

1. remove term presidential term limitation

2. nationalizing banks now underway

3. formation of national bank to dump caustic assets will be first step to who know what follows. Yes, “they” know.

these are very dangerous steps for the future of this constitutional republic.

Agreed. Our traditions mean nothing now. We’re definitely in uncharted waters. This requires a whole new mindset in which the old rules don’t apply - truly a paradigm shift.

Didn’t they accuse Bush of trying something like that or rule by Executive Order towards the end of his election???

PEOPLE HAVE NO IDEA HOW CLOSE WE ARE TO THIS VERY THING.

The number of justices in the supreme court is set by legislation not by the constitution. Obama expands the supreme court to 15 members; appoints very liberal justices. The new majority declare that the Constitution is an archiac document with no relevance to modern times (somewhat done already). Constitution is now null and void with the supreme court refusing to hear arguments based upon constitutional law. Obama declares himself President for life with the congress and media in full accord. Elections are suspended for all offices except for those held by opposition parties.

I knew this was coming when Obama was elected. The Messiah can never be made to leave office.

OTOH, why bother? He got in by ignoring the Constitution, so why not stay in by ignoring the Constitution? All they have to do is “reinterpret” that amendment.

Two terms is perfect. A president will spend the first half of the first term learning the ropes, and the second half trying to get reelected. Then conceivably he can get some work done during the second term.

Okay, that didn’t apply to Bush, who rocked in the beginning but quickly petered-out after reelection, but you get the concept.

This comes up all the time. Just a lot of hot air.

Maybe, and maybe not. We're in a very unsual situatioin, with near super majorities in both Houses as well as the Presidency in the hands of a single party. Most anything could and probably will happen.

But I don't think this particular "anything" will happen in The Messiah's first term.

Of course it's really going the wrong way, what we need are term limits on Congress, not the removal of the one on the Presidency. But these are DemonRats, so going the wrong way is to be expected.

The state legislatures would ultimately have to pass this and you know they’ll do the right thing. After all, isn’t that what those folks who want to repeal the 17th Amendment keep trying to tell us?

Well, the state legislatures gave up their own power to select Senators. They might do this too.

Do you actually think 3/4 of the states would approve this?

The Supreme Court doesn’t have the power to strike things from the Constitution and they never have.

NO....not even if the best conservative comes to office. We shouldn’t allow our senators to last so long, muchless a president.

It will never get through. If it did, yes, it would mean something incredibly signficant. A break-up of the union, perhaps.
