Really? It worked in Venezuala:

Venezuela lawmakers pass unlimited re-election bill

CARACAS (AFP) — The Venezuelan National Assembly passed a constitutional amendment allowing unlimited re-election of the president and all other elected officials that must now be submitted to referendum within 30 days.

The measure is President Hugo Chavez's second attempt at seeking unlimited reelection. The constitution was amended one year after he was elected in 1998 to allow him to run for a second term in 2006.

Is the left in this country really all that different from Hugo Chavez?

Yes, I believe that our political traditions are quite a bit different from Venezuala's. And, after I've taken a fast look at the history of Venezuela, I believe it even more.

Note also that amendments have to be ratified by 3/4ths of the states.
