And with Bush leaving – and a Democrat taking his place – Democrats want voters to remember that the nation’s economy crumbled when the Republicans held the White House.

And by doing so, deflect the fact that the Dems were in charge of Congress for the previous two years, during which most of the crumbling took place, and were largely responsible, through their neglect in overseeing Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, for the mortgage and real estates crises.
