Gone, not forgotten: Dems go after Bush By: Patrick O'Connor January 17, 2009 07:23 AM EST

For the last eight years, Democrats have been counting the days until George W. Bush leaves the White House.

Now some of them can’t seem to let him go.

On Friday, House Majority Leader Steny H. Hoyer (D-Md.) distributed a video showing “how the policies of the Bush Administration have failed the nation and continue to affect our ability to confront the current economic crisis.”

Earlier in the week, House Judiciary Chairman John Conyers, Jr., (D-Mich.) released a 486-page report documenting a litany of alleged abuses by Bush and members of his administration.

And when House Democrats approved their biennial rules package last week, they included a provision allowing the Judiciary Committee to continue its pursuit of documents and testimony from Bush’s chief of staff and former White House counsel.

This right-up-to-the-end Bush-bashing is part reflex and part coordinated message.

With Bush in office, some Democrats have defined themselves by their opposition to a man they long viewed as a less-than-legitimate president.

And with Bush leaving – and a Democrat taking his place – Democrats want voters to remember that the nation’s economy crumbled when the Republicans held the White House.

“There’s nothing to gain from pointing fingers at past presidents,” Hoyer says in the video released Friday. "But there's a great deal to be gained at looking back honestly at the financial choices we’ve made in the past and their consequences."

In an op-ed that ran in Friday’s Washington Post, Conyers said he understands that “that many feel we should just move on. But in my view, it would not be responsible to start our journey forward without first knowing exactly where we are.”

“Bush is really not going away,”

John Conyers is a disgrace. He is a poster child for leftist, ensconced elitism. His wife is worse than him.

The disease carriers cannot afford to let Bush off the screen. To do so would risk the public opening their eyes and seeing the true source of the nation's illness.

If the people of this nation ever wake up, the likes of Hoyer and Conyers will be found swinging from lightpoles.

The Left still haven't forgotten Reagan. PBS's American Experience recently ran a program about his Reagan's Presidency, and it wasn't flattering.

Expect this crap about Bush 20 years from now.

Gee, I’ve written my *Speaker of the House* several times in a very respectful manner, giving factual information to support and have NEVER received even a form letter back.

Bush is leaving office in a middle of the road recession. How long before the Democrats convert it into a full blown depression?

I think the days of getting answers from this bunch have passed, if you're not careful Squealer will send for Napoleon and his dogs. Remember Comrades; “All animals are created equal, but some animals, (like our new rulers), are more equal than others”-The Pigs

The new powers that be know that they don’t actually have any doable objectives so they resort to doing the only thing they really do well, badmouthing the President. This will go on for as long as they can drag it out and will culminate in criminal prosecution if they can manage it. To be honest, I don’t care if they hang George Bush on the Whitehouse lawn and beat him like a Pinata but I would hope that, during their hatefest, they manage to actually get the economy working again as promised or good Americans are gonna suffer serious hardships for a long time. They need to get over their hatred and get on with the business they were hired to do because if after four years, the only thing they manage to do is point fingers at Republicans, destroy the second amendment, and guarantee American men and woman the right to be as gay as they want to be, they are going to get a nasty surprise in 2012 and they should remember that what comes around, goes around.

These people need to look into mirrors more often. President Bush may not have done everything right.......who does? But he is still our President and has earned our respect. Those that don’t feel this way in the Senate and the House, need to find other jobs.

That is Conyers punishment. He is married to Monica. What a piece of trash she is. I hope she rides his a$$ like a rented mule. Listen to him talk. He is a dim wit.

I’m going to go ahead and just start calling it a depresison now FWIW. Economists can’t agree on how to define a depression (because they’re generally pretty well paid regardless I suspect) but most average Americans know buy now that we’ve gone over the edge.

These deranged animals will blame Bush for everything for the rest of eternity. Accountability is only applicable to Republicans.
