Obama Reaches Out for McCain’s Counsel [McBama barf alert]

BY DAVID D. KIRKPATRICK

WASHINGTON — Not long after Senator John McCain returned last month from an official trip to Iraq and Pakistan, he received a phone call from President-elect Barack Obama.

As contenders for the presidency, the two had hammered each other for much of 2008 over their conflicting approaches to foreign policy, especially in Iraq. (He’d lose a war! He’d stay a hundred years!) Now, however, Mr. Obama said he wanted Mr. McCain’s advice, people in each camp briefed on the conversation said. What did he see on the trip? What did he learn?

It was just one step in a post-election courtship that historians say has few modern parallels, beginning with a private meeting in Mr. Obama’s transition office in Chicago just two weeks after the vote. On Monday night, Mr. McCain will be the guest of honor at a black-tie dinner celebrating Mr. Obama’s inauguration.

Over the last three months, Mr. Obama has quietly consulted Mr. McCain about many of the new administration’s potential nominees to top national security jobs and about other issues — in one case relaying back a contender’s answers to questions Mr. McCain had suggested.

Mr. McCain, meanwhile, has told colleagues “that many of these appointments he would have made himself,” said Senator Lindsey Graham, a South Carolina Republican and a close McCain friend.

Then maybe he should HURRY UP and appoint McPain to something... like chief “opposition” Counsel! We’d be rid of the pair of them in NO time...

It all makes sense. McCain never planned to win the office. He did everything he could to sabotage the campaign. Election night he could barely wait to concede.

That sentence sums up the election loss and the sorry state of the Republican Party.

John McCain will gravitate to wherever he thinks that he can attach himself to some power. Like Lindsey Graham.

They have no principles or conscience.

Definitely.

Obama is no fool. He has seen how McCain loves the adoration of his enemies. And how useful he is as a spoiler.

He’s off on the right foot here, McCain just wants his ears scritched and his belly tickled. Then he’ll go fetch.

Sure, Obama only has to pick off one Senator to prevent filibusters. It's time for McCain to leave the Senate.

Freaking WHAT?? McCain would have had many of the Obama/Clinton heads that Obama has brought on??

Folks, we were screwed with either of these men. At least now, we have an opportunity to push a true conservative next time.

too many times we were so disgusted that McCain never hit back, never went at Obama even when the door was standing wide open - our vote wasn't for McCain, most McCain votes weren't, but we convinced ourselves to hold our noses, vote for America and prayed Palin would help shape the presidency. We will never vote for McCain again, not for dogcatcher, not for any office. He doesn't even know when he's being punked fcol. The fool.
