“Our c.i.a. at work?
1st they invent aids and spread it amongst black folk.
Now passing the plaque around our enemies.”

Not even remotely funny. If our enemies can convince others that your rumor is true, it will justify a “retaliatory strike” that would be unpleasant.

If it were a lab accident and they were planning an attack anyway, a leak from the lab could be spun as a CIA attack, justifying a bio attack.

DBrow,
Both statements are supposed to be absolutely stupid.
BUT, I guarantee ya some crazies will believe things like this to be true.
I’m sure you’ve heard fools say the cia was responsible for aids?

Yes, I’ve heard the CIA-AIDS, plus the CIA-crack and other similar things.

I wasn’t singling you out, just worrying that someone will use the concept to hurt us.

Fire can’t melt steel, you know!

If this started in the cave shelters — where, one guesses, there was a certain lack of hygiene — it sounds to me like this might be a natural occurrence, to be attributed to the rodents

Or bats.

and keep pets like terriers and cats

Dogs are unclean </Ricter scale irony>

I guess I’m really saying that if they were more like us, this wouldn’t be a problem, would it?

Nor would they.

Yeah, but that big gigantic flash of light followed by the fireball would surely send 'em a message.

We will find
sooner or later
if Achmed'll pray
to a glowing crater

That's why I said "develop" - everything the terrorists make, they learned how to from Western Civ.

Not true! There are things they developed all by themselves, like, uh, like, um, like...

*nevermind*

Anyone find corroborating reports?

Not yet. We may never even if it's true.

“I agree with you about the nukes. They are far more reliable than hoping for an effective spread of the plague.”

I would imagine plague would make a good secondary attack after a larger attack to some extent disabled a society’s response structure.

Just a quatrain.

A Haiku follows this format:

The first line has five
second, seven syllables
then return to five

(yes, that’s a meta-haiku)...

Um. No.

First, there is a difference between developing it deliberately, and catching it accidentally.

Second, even if they’d developed it deliberately they’d want to test it before they committed to using it.

Third, for all we know, a bunch of infected tallywackers could be mingling with the inauguration crowds right now...

Just a quatrain.

That's quite the train. I've seen two and three trains on the old Southern Pacific, but never a 'qua-train' (groan). lol

Ah, well, uh...

*ponders*

*snaps fingers*

To see a quatrain you really need to go to a switchyard...

“Not likely. Plague responds to antibiotics very well.”

So does bacillus anthracis, but when you have 5000 people showing up with it, it's hard to treat.

Plague, especially pneumonic plague, has been on the “possible biowar agent” list for a while now. Not as high as anthrax, but still considered a serious threat. Among other charming properties, it can spread person-to-person while anthrax does not, except for spores that cling to your clothes.

We should celebrate because we know this will attack only Muslims, not Christians and Jews. /s
