Yes, you are right. BDS started b/4 inauguartion, b/c Pres Bush beat the Ds at their game. They never lose recounts, but he outfought and outfoxed them.

But then he gave up and started the whole ‘new tone’ thing. What new tone? They were rabid from the get go.

Now we have a call to ‘end partisanship’, i.e., roll over for the liberal agenda. I do not intend to do so. But I do blame Pres Bush for putting us in this situation.

Good man, yes. Honorable intentions, yes. Did what he thought right, yes. Was successful and left us in a better state, no. Reid, Pelos and Hussein are his legacy.

I agree and very nicely stated(to genetic homophobe). I guess we need a 21st century description of what it means, and what we expect from our elected.

It's not just that he promoted socialism. At the same time he made the R party, the conservative brand, the party of the rich, following democrats talking points exactly. He promoted and defended tax cuts for millionaires(one of the few things he stuck to) including capital gains tax cuts, which seemed to come from government contracts, which is truly trickle down. But then told the tax payers they must refund what looked like the same investors bad investments. “But don't worry” , he said , “you wont have to pay that bill until after I am gone”. “Let your kids pay for it”. “Deficits and nation debt does not matter.” This was the worst possible message to send out for the R party. But at the same time he gave in some handouts, like the tax rebates and free prescription drugs, but got no positive credit for it, but set a precedent for more.

So what does Pelosi and Obama have to work with politically? A belief that republicans support the rich #1 at the middle class expense. Socialist precedents by Republican ex-president GWB paving their way. A belief that markets are dangerous and take middle class savings (401Ks) and give them to the rich insiders. It is not so much whether these are true, it's that GWB (and republican senate) worked with democrats to promote these ideas of what republicans stand for. GWB states proudly ,”I did what I thought was right”. He never thought “what kind of message am I sending? “ and “what will it do to my party's future?

But the Bush-worshipers (aka Bush-bots) make me to wonder what conservatism is all about.
:::::::::::
Bush is not, and will never be, a conservative. Let us not make that mistake in judgement — if you want to learn about conservatism, study Reagan.

Calling it hate speech is just another attempt to remove your constitutional rights to a different opinion. I don’t care who says it, are what they say, they have that right.

Good article.

BDS is like political porn....its addicting.

The left and right will never let him go....he fulfills so many of their fantasies, gets their blood pumping, they get off on the very mention of his name.

For the right-wing this is counterproductive of course....but it is par for the course for us....feeling self righteous at joining left to eat our own, is the ultimate high.

Even more than winning.

Instead of wasting time lamenting how Bush was treated conservatives ought to be thinking and writing about how to take our country back.

I thoroughly disagree.

I've seen the 'Rat Media (but I repeat myself) crank it up twice since 1994 and stop Republican successes cold.

In 1994, Newt, Rush, and the Contract carried Republican principles to a sweeping victory. The MSM started a vitriolic hate-campaign to nullify the election results, stop the political momentum of the GOP, and ensure Slick the Felon's reelection. They succeeded brilliantly. Brent Bozell of Media Research Center saw it coming and tried to warn the Pubbies, but they just patronized him ..... then afterward, shellshocked by the pure, evil hatred and journalistic rape job (which, inter alia, saw the coining of the slur "Clinton hater" by some journodoxy scribbling for TIME, in an Oct. '95 article), they said stuff like "I had no idea" -- which was what Bozell had tried to tell them; they just didn't believe him.

The 'RatMedia and 'Rats completely nullified the 1994 election outcome and castrated the beginnings of a new, conservative political majority. Remember that.

They did it again after the successful 2002 GOP Congressional campaign.

Now they've elected another 'Rat, this one a red-diaper baby for God's sake, and compromised America's financial and physical security with another hate-campaign, and Republican failure to come to grips with the need for leadership and clear communication with the People despite the 'RatMedia filters has also given the 'Rats majorities in Congress that may last another 40 years.

Solving the communication problem, and breaking the 'RatMedia monopoly of defining political issues (they still can, despite talk radio and the Web, which Pelosi will now move to neutralize, both Web and radio), will have to be a top-level priority for the GOP, after figuring out what they/we want to be, if the 'Rats aren't to be conceded a monopoly over the national agenda and the terms of its debate, like the evil, wretched 50's and 60's.

President Bush nominated McCAIN? He did?

Who said he did? Bush's complicity with people like you to destroy conservatism were point number one in my post on who is to blame. Point number two on who is to blame is people like you who nominated and defended the indefensible--the idiot McCain.

You post shows an inability to read or, my suspicion, just dishonesty. And yes, it boils back to sycophants like you who elected Obama.

You’re jealous of the people who came to this country in 1620, and your ancestors didn’t have to fight in the Revolution, so you feel left out.

Wrong. I'm not even jealous of the people who came to this country in 1607.

The descriptor of the senior Bushes as "New England snobs" is precise, established by their own pattern of relating to strangers and acquaintances decades ago. They're genteel and they're polite -- but they're snobs.

Politically, they patronize and shortchange supporters of the GOP from other regions of the country, most noticeably through the primary process, which is stacked in favor of Eastern Establishment favorites and against Southern, and even moreso against Western and Mountain State conservative Republicans. Open primaries, East Coast primaries, and early money are the Business Wing's weapons of choice in keeping control of the Party away from the hoi polloi.

Recognizing that Eastern politics has always been an expression of what some historians have referred to as the "deferential society" of the Eastern slope and coastal plains, and recognizing that political and social values are different -- much more "Jacksonian" -- on the other side of the Appalachians, is the key to understanding the differences within the Republican Party.

Please change your tag line to read: "Caution: I have no shame and will 'reply' to whatever I want, without regard to what you wrote."

No one said you supported Obama--but your actions got him elected. Just as you (wrongly) accused the conservative dissidents of getting him elected. They call that projection.

22 Years, huh? Don't make me laugh. I've been supporting conservatives since 1968, pounding pavement, giving money, and going against the establishment when "conservative" was a pejorative. So, you came along after all the work was done, huh, in 1987. You just have no clue.

And no, the GOP is done for.

Some on here aren’t getting the BIG PICTURE. The SOCIOCRATS aka Democrats have everything and everyone in place in order to implement every Socialist policy imaginable within the first 100 days. Who will stop them? They are the majority in the House, Senate and now the Executive. Moreover, they will soon control the Supreme court with a Majority. To all you stay at home Republicans and Conservatives that did not vote “THANKS SO MUCH FOR GIVING OBAMA FREE REIGN TO change this country into a SOCIALIST NATION”. All of you did a “GREAT” Job! CONGRATS!

And exactly what was/is the difference in Bama and lord McCain?

The left is mentally unhinged, but that doesn't mean they don't have a will to power.

I disagree. They know exactly what they are doing, like the nameless, faceless (at the time) "Ali Babas" who systematically destroyed Baghdad's electrical grid and plant.

Rule or ruin. Period. That is what they do. It's their most important concept, and all seeming contradictions in their policies and tactics flow from constant reappraisals of the "correlation of forces". Development deals and trade one year, scorched earth the next.

They're evil, too, but that goes without saying.
