New prosecutor looks at JonBenet Ramsey case
CNN ^ | January 19, 2009 | Ashley Broughton

The new district attorney of Boulder County, Colorado, said he plans to take a fresh look at the investigation into the 1996 slaying of JonBenet Ramsey.

The 1996 slaying of JonBenet Ramsey is one of the nation's most famous cold cases.

The DA's office assumed responsibility for the investigation in 2002. But District Attorney Stan Garnett told CNN that he wants to decide during his first 30 days in office whether the case should be returned to Boulder police.

"I'm trying to determine whether it's efficient to have the ongoing investigation handled by my office or somebody else," said Garnett, who was sworn in as district attorney January 13.

The DA's office is relatively small, he said, with 27 lawyers and six investigators handling between 2,000 and 2,500 felony cases a year.

Although the Ramsey case has not generated news since last year, tips and information regularly come in to authorities. Whoever is handling the investigation is charged with checking them out and deciding whether they are worth pursuing, Garnett said.

He said reports that he is considering reopening the case are inaccurate. "It's not closed. It hasn't been solved, and it's been open the whole time."

The case is one of the nation's most famous unsolved murders.

Don't Miss Cold Case: JonBenet Ramsey On December 26, 1996, John Ramsey discovered the body of his 6-year-old daughter, JonBenet, in the basement of the family's Boulder home. The girl had been strangled and beaten. A ransom note was found on the stairs of the home, demanding $118,000.

Early in the case, Boulder police said JonBenet's parents, John and Patsy Ramsey, were under "an umbrella of suspicion" in her death. But they were never formally named as suspects, and a grand jury refused to indict them.

Yes, but what they did to the body would be unbearable for a parent to do. I think they really adored the little girl. Jon Benet was indeed a little doll. I think pedophile ring,

No I'm talking about a mother who would dress her little girl up like a teenage two dollar whore.

They were both officially exonerated.

You omitted that they were officially exonerated by the mental eunuch Mary Lacy, aka Mary Keenan. Lacy/Keenan couldn't find her a$$ with both hands if you spotted her nine fingers.

Interesting read.

So let me get this straight. A stranger enters the Ramsey home in the dead of night, goes straight to their daughter's bedroom on the 3rd level of the house, snatches her, carries her down to the basement, molests her, makes a garrot out of one of the Ramseys paint brushes, kills her, then goes back upstairs, finds some writing paper, writes a rambling ransom note that just happens to mention John Ramsey's bonus amount and resembles Patsy's handwriting, scatters the note on the back stairs, then casually leaves the house and disappears, leaving the body behind. All without leaving fingerprints, blood or semen, making any noise, bothering anyone else in the house, worrying about being discovered, nor ever repeating that MO in another crime before or since.

Okey dokey. Stranger things have happened, I suppose, but color me skeptical. BTW, what the heck is DNA that can't be seen, but that can be scraped? Even tiny blood and semen drops that aren't visible to the naked eye can be seen under black light. Hairs can be seen. So maybe they are talking about skin cells. Problem is, every human being on the planet sheds hundreds, if not thousands of skin cells daily. They are in the air all around us, everywhere we go. A few non-Ramsey skin cells could have come from anywhere.

If the murderer truly did come from outside the home, and if that person did not know the Ramseys, but chose Jon Benet randomly and, as far as we know, never killed or sexually molested another child, then this is the strangest murderer in the history of crime.

So you kill the child, then leave a ransom note?

Finding DNA does NOT mean mom or dad did not do it, it just means someone else may have been involced.

How about a kiddie porn ring? that would explain the DNA ‘sample’ from another person.

It only adds another unknown person to the case. It does NOT EXONERATE anyone!

And the police are foolish to make this big apology, because they must know this.

Maybe the Ramsey’s are part of the Illuminati so they are immune from prosecution... this case has WEIRD written all over it.

The facts still remain that there was no evidence of an intruder, the note was written INSIDE the house with house paper and pen, in moms handwriting, by someone with knowlege of his work and receint $118 thousand dollar work bonus check.

Who comes to kidnap a girl and THEN stops to write a note on the way out?

A Boulder pedophile had broken into at least one other area home in the weeks before Jonbenet was murdered. He was scared away by the mother who heard her daughter scream. Supposedly this pedophile later told a pal he’d killed Jonbenet — he committed suicide soon afterward.

“So I take it you’re just chosing to ignore the fact of the unknown male DNA under her fingernails and in her underwear?”

exactly.

And wasn’t one theory that someone could have simply hid in the house after the party was over?
And if that’s the case - then the broken window from inside makes sense.

Well, I’m not the prosecutor, investigator, lawyer, or grand jury... :-)

I can only relay what those guys have done and said, and so there’s the article for you...

“My theory about this is that she died accidentally, perhaps during roughhousing with her older brother, and her parents panicked and tried to make it look like she was killed by an intruder.”

So how does that scenario manage to get unknown male DNA under Jon Benet’s fingernails and in her underwear?

If memory serves me correctly - there was a party the night before.
I think I remember one theory that perhaps the perp simply hid in the house and waited for everyone to leave, and waited for the family to fall asleep.

He grabs the girl and carries her to the basement.

If he manages to commit the murder without waking anyone, then he does have time to write a weird note.
And if he works with Mr. Ramsey, then he knows the amount of his bonus.

If he is strange enough to commit these acts - he is strange enough to write the note.

I’m not saying I know one way or the other, but one theory is just as strange as the other.
I find it hard to believe parents would mutilate their child’s body instead of calling 911.

So how did the mom manage to get unknown male dna in Jon Benet’s underwear?

Indirectly, by parading her around as a whore.

Well..., as soon as they find whose DNA ended up inside her panties and long johns, then they’ll have a chance to ask more questions...

As it said — “The unexplained third-party DNA on the clothing of the victim is very significant and powerful evidence,” Lacy said. “It is very unlikely that there would be an innocent explanation for DNA found at three different locations on two separate items of clothing worn by the victim at the time of her murder.”

It would seem that the way the Ramseys would be involved, by this information, is if they invited some guy in to molest their daughter (I suppose that would be an explanation). And then they tried to coverup for him...

And..., of course, they’re still covering up for him now... :-) I do know that with the imaginative minds we have at Free Republic, we can certainly come up with a score of conspiracy theories...

so you honestly think she was literally pimping out her daughter?
Did anything that the police found point to that?
Or do you just enjoy assuming the worst?
