All well and good.

But we should be honest about what President Bush brought about in his second term.

Because he played ‘not to lose’ in Iraq after the 2004 election victory, he more than anyone else, lost control of both the House and the Senate to the most leftwing hardcore zealots this nation has seen since the 1930’s.

Because he refused to point out every Congresscritter screeching negatively against Social Security Reform, he lost the debate he should have won, and ensured its inevitable collapse within two decades.

Because he didn’t fight back, he allowed the MSM to not just define him, but those of us that voted for him twice, as insane far far rightwing zealots that also happen to be bigotted, racist, sexist homophobes.

Adn as a result of this, the 1st and 2nd Amendments to the Constitution are about to be attacked via legislative action once again, our taxes will go through the roof once again, and the economy is going to suck for at least the next decade.

He did some things very very well, and history will note it as it should.

But the short term damage he did set the table for two consecutive, and quite literally disasterous, election cycles.

I wish President Bush well. I thank him for his service, and I greatly appreciate the fact he kept us from being hit again here at home after 9/11.

But he did so much damage to the Republican Party, it will be a decade, maybe longer for it to recover.

Good post. Appropriately critical, but with much respect.
