Yeah, makes sense to me. Because, cripes, it's not only not the worst response but the best! Let's respect Obama. What a brilliant rallying cry. Get a real job.

Blame the headline writer. Fr. Euteneur said to show respect for the office, not to respect Obama.

I think it’s always useful to distinguish between “acting respectfully” (politely, appropriately) toward a person and “respecting” the person.
