Cruise said he grew up - all his life - wanting to kill Hitler. Ummm - curious, since Hitler had already been dead 17 years before Cruise was born?

Ummm, indeed. Good point, but I think you intended to address it elsewhere. My point was that Cruise’s talent didn’t lend itself to portraying von Stauffenberg.
