Barack Obama took the oath of office today as the 44th president of the United States and pledged to "begin again the work of remaking America."
Addressing a huge throng estimated at more than 2 million people on the capital's Mall and millions of others watching on television, Obama recognized the multiple crises now afflicting the nation at a time of war abroad and economic turmoil at home. But he sought to rally Americans to a "new era of responsibility" and the promise of a brighter future.
He cited a profound "sapping of confidence across our land -- a nagging fear that America's decline is inevitable, and that the next generation must lower its sights." The challenges are real, serious and many, and "they will not be met easily or in a short span of time," he said.
"But know this, America -- they will be met. On this day, we gather because we have chosen hope over fear, unity of purpose over conflict and discord. On this day, we come to proclaim an end to the petty grievances and false promises, the recriminations and worn out dogmas, that for far too long have strangled our politics."
Obama continued: "Starting today, we must pick ourselves up, dust ourselves off, and begin again the work of remaking America."

I heard a blip on Rush a few minutes ago, and thought he was doing some type of parody. The yellow/mellow sounds like bathroom advice of “if it’s yellow let it mellow, if it’s brown, flush it down.” Unnnngh!!!

I had the exact same feeling. Scary, creepy, strange, un-American...chanting the name of someone taking office like Stalin or Hitler. “O-bam-a! O-bam-a! O-bam-a!” WTH is that? Are we in some third world country? We don’t do that here. For God sakes....
The people there were trance-like, mesmerized. I didn’t watch the actual taking of the Oath, listened to Rush’s commentary instead (so I’d be able to keep my breakfast down), but the coverage before that was beyond strange. The speech itself was its own kind of creepy, with the shared responsibility/shared sacrifice talk and especially “the re-shaping of America” that really bothered me.
We are in trouble - big big trouble. These people who voted for him will do ANYTHING for him, ANYTHING he asks and they’ll do it GLADLY. I know some of these people and it is truly terrifying.
God save us all....
Oh, and did I hear Diane Feinstein (if that’s who was officiating) say “The United States of Obama”?

The Demonrats have never had any shame. The sheer audacity, but I look forward to it being all about the Demonrats now as it is all on them. The press and entertainment field are going to have it rough in that they always have to demonize Republicans and conservatives when it is all Demonrat now.
Last I heard Nostradamus had some year way out like 3275 or something. I don’t get how it matched up with the Mayan calendar (and who cares when they stopped bothering carving more years, anyway?).
Oh come on. Klintoon didn’t have to show his health record; why should Obama have to do anything else, either?
