Is dissent still patriotic?
Denver Post ^ | 21 jan 09 | David Harsanyi

Do all Americans truly have a yearning to fundamentally "remake" our nation? There must be a subversive minority out there that still believes the United States — even with its imperfections and sporadic recessions — is, in context, still a wildly prosperous and free country worth preserving.

Some of you must still believe that politicians are meant to serve rather than be worshiped. And there must be someone out there who considers partisanship a healthy, organic reflection of our differences rather than something to be surrendered in the name of so- called unity — which is, after all, untenable, subjective and utterly counterproductive.

How about those who praised dissent for the past eight years?

How about those who praised dissent for the past eight years?

They are now Generals in the Obama Dissent Suppression Korps.

yah, sure ... I'll dissent from all of Zero's marxist, gun-grabbing, baby-killing, terrorist-coddling, military-hating, eco-freak, control-freak, nanny-state garbage.

It's the Patriotic thing to do.

Boy, this last point is dead-on. Is dissent still permitted?

Honestly, I don't know. I really think the One is trying to land a knock-out punch to conservatism and he may be able to. His rhetoric is EXTREMELY provocative but subtle and he as a very willing press one there knees in front of him in worship.

Big trouble a commin!

Dissent provides the proper checks and balances, thats what that old crone Pelosi has piped out her pie hole for 8 years.

Remember it is not dissent, it is merely checks and balances.

Well, we now know from the Secretary of Treasury confirmation hearings that Biden's paying taxes as a test of patriotism no longer applies.

We must be adamant that right now dissent is a requirement.

Its time we pay our dues and enforce what our forefathers wrote out in the Constitution.

And frankly I’m ready for some aggressive negotiations.

From one of the comments about the article.....

“He’s not interested in equal opportunity, he’s interested in equality of outcome.”

I will do my patriotic duty, as guaranteed by the 1st Amendment, to speak out against tyranny.

Reading down in the comments there's a wonderful quote:

It only stands to reason that where there's sacrifice, there's someone collecting the sacrificial offerings.

Where there's service, there is someone being served.

The man who speaks to you of sacrifice is speaking of slaves and masters, and intends to be the master.

You’ll have to excuse me as I’ll not be participating in the next 4 years. That is, unless the 2nd amendment is overturned. Then I’ll be participating like hell!
