I still don’t understand how the IMF can hire their EMPLOYEES as 1099 contractors.
As I understand the payroll laws, if you are under the control of the employer, and are working for virtually only one employer, you MUST be shown as an employee.

I have worked on a 1099 basis for over 30 years, but I had as many as 19 bookkeeping clients at one time. I provided all the office supplies, even the calculator. I picked up and delivered alot of the work, only doing the very smallest of my clients at their place because of distance and short time required. I worked all kinds of hours of the day, but I controlled that.
I think there should be an investigation of the IMF and others who are pulling this kind of scam in the first place, because they not only are not paying the matching FICA and Medicare taxes = 7.65 %, but they are not paying any state or Federal UNEMPLOYMENT taxes or Workmen’s Comp premiums.

“EMPLOYERS” who design their payrols like this are getting a distinct advantage over the employer who does it by the book.
