the ‘major Bush rule’ came from Bush himself, both father and son. When interviewed by FOX in the Oval Office just days ago, both noted that in reverence for the sanctity of the office itself, the sanctity of the responsibility of the office, neither ever entered the room without a jacket on, and neither did their staff. This was carrying on a ‘rule’ or ‘tradition’ that Reagan himself also followed. Honor the Office. It’s a good rule; Obama is as usual in-your-face about disregarding the rule, which sends a message he also disregards the sanctity of the office in which he sits - to him, it’s just another desk and phone. imo jmo moo

best regards, blu

Absolutely correct; the same thing happened to Israel throughout the OT. Let’s just hope this is not a pattern, or that the Rapture is soon.

So what’s normal? Bush, Clinton, Nixon, people reading the stars?

Instead of normal I should have said respectful. Yes, Bush one and Bush two were respectful; Reagan was respectful; Ford was respectful; Johnson was respectful; FDR war respectful.... these are enough for the last 50 years.

Relevant enough for CNN to run a headline about it.

...try and find a modern image of a Republican president in shirtsleeves in the Oval Office.

I didn’t mention party affiliation. My guess is that there are pictures of Kennedy working in his shirt sleeves. To be honest, I see nothing wrong with that.

Obama’s policies....THAT is my focus and, so far, I don’t like what I’m seeing.

Working without a jacket is a perk when working in your “home office” as many of us could attest to.

...well, if he was working in his home office, or the President’s personal office, one of at least two on the premises, that would be fine. The West Wing however is the headquarters of the public office of the President. Just a different style. Just a different level or reverence for the office.

Oh, I’m sure there’s pictures of Democratic presidents in the Oval without their pants on...I’m not contrasting Obama to Clinton or Kennedy, nor did the article, it was contrast with George W. Bush, who like his father, and President Reagan before him, insisted on wearing a coat in that room. I know how differently they Dems views the office.

and the issue is that this was INTENTIONAL; I think more of a slap in Bush’s face. There is no way he didn’t think this through.

I’m with you on that.....but I honestly don’t think we can object to this kind of photo. I think we are more effective when we address what he is DOING.

I understand. It’s just that he hasn’t done anything yet...so CNN picked up on some stylistic changes, and I posted it. I appreciated the extra effort to dignify the Office that was made by the current occupant’s predecessors.

First question, how old are you? Only an adolescent would ask me that question unless you’re a hippy from the 60s.

Don’t worry... History will be FAR more generous to President Bush. Of this, I am SURE.

I’m sure God likes him a great deal too! ;-)
