How Stimulus Affects You

Where the $825 billion will -- and won't -- show up in your life. With our first glimpse into how the government wants to use $825 billion to juice the economy, it's clear that some of the money will quickly and directly affect most Americans lives, while other spending is intended to produce either longer-term, less tangible benefits or is targeted at narrow segments of the population -- like the unemployed.

Although the sum is huge, the money isn't intended to turn the economy around, but to keep it from falling even further into decay.

Take $100 from your left pocket.

Burn $40.

Put the remaining $60 in your right pocket.

You’ve been stimulated.

“Although the sum is huge, the money isn’t intended to turn the economy around, but to keep it from falling even further into decay.”

Because spending huge sums we didn’t have worked so well to get us into the problems no doubt. It only stands to reason it would prevent further problems of course.

Looking at that list, all I can think is MY GOD!.

And we know it will get even bigger!
Imagine the pork.

Look, those who make $75,000 or more need to sit on our wallets. And I mean tight.

This is a slap in the face from the elites about who they consider “rich” enough to be taxed but not “stimulated”.

Let those who make less than $75,000 spend us out of the depression.

I plan to observe their spending trickle up.

With this type of targeting that is contemptuous of my contribution to the economy (I must be doing OK since thats their plan), I plan to sit out the Obama economy.

Spending only to the very MINIMUM required to survive for the next 4 years.

The tax rebate of last year was paid for with money from the Communist Chinese.

$32 billion for a "smart" utility grid and renewable energy production, although in the long run this could change the way you use appliances at home and clean the air.

$32 billion for daily rolling blackouts.

Change you can count on.

My husband and I got no “stimulus” money from Bush because together we made “too much money.” (Barely over the limit of phase out.)

Now that my husband got laid off Dec 3rd, and thankfully got a new job starting Monday (yay!) but at wages he was making 7 yrs ago (boo. . .deflation), perhaps now we are no longer “too rich” for a “stimulus.”

Whatever. I just want to Bush tax cuts to *not* expire.

And when the super-inflation hits later this year, this will hurt us too, as we have good savings and we don’t have any debt/spending to speak of.

This all definitely sucks, all around.

Obama’s fault! LOL.

You have a blessing there in someone who’ll start work when so many are losing jobs. I hope the $$ will be OK for you.

On another topic........

At JPM Chase, I learned yesterday that raises and bonuses are gone/out this coming year....and that some of the employees LEARNED THIS FROM RECRUITERS. Raw. Raspberries to JPM.

75 billion for broadband internet in rural areas? Can’t these people look up crystal meth recipes at dialup speed?

And you know, when government bombs failed banks, business, programs, etc with money, doesn’t mean they will suddenly become successful. Oversight or no. Most likely it will just get pissed away again.

Oh well.

Americans get to learn the hard way.

Ain’t it always the way?

That is one of the things that will bite Obama on the ass hard. Me and you and everyone here.. Joe and Jane Nobodys, we know this stuff, we know Gubmint is the last way you want to go about something if you can help it because of those very reasons! You cannot expect Government to NOT be corrupt and screw things up. Regardless of party. Too much control and money always results in this.
