Well, I'd like to think Roberts is immune to human failings, but I suspect that, regardless of “the way it is supposed to be” each of the Supreme Court Justices is susceptible to political pressure - possibly a lot more so than we would think.

Especially after the 8 year annihlation of GW after the 2000 decision.
Roberts didn’t have the guts to risk race riots in every city.
Of course he would have gone down in history as truly an example of “courage of conviction” for the sake of country and constitutional integrity. ...now he appears more of a standard issue political bureaucrat.
i cannot help but wonder however if all this is a glaring subconscious reason he blew the oath.
