CHRISTIANSBURG, Va. - A doctoral student accused of beheading a fellow student at Virginia Tech is due in court.
A preliminary hearing for Haiyang Zhu (hy-yuhng-joo) is set for Friday in Montgomery County General District Court. Zhu is charged with first-degree murder in the slaying of 22-year-old Xin Yang (shin yuhng). The 22-year-old woman was beheaded in her dormitory cafe where she met Zhu for coffee Jan. 21.
