Gillibrand was criticized for hosting campaign fundraisers in London, England and Paris, France, hypocritical since she criticized her 2006 opponent, then U.S. Representative John E. Sweeney, for hosting an out-of-state fundraiser.
I guess Paterson decided that Democrats have a big enough margin in the House that losing one district wouldn’t make much difference. Now, the key is for Republicans to choose a candidate who is well-suited to the constituants.
Cool but the heck with that. I want to know the dirt that caused them to dump Caroline Kennedy. Marriage troubles? Accounting issues? Oh my.
According to what I find on the internet on her she is rather conservative on 2nd Amendment, illegals and taxes. A blue dog. Guess there are other sides to her that make her endearing for NY liberal.
Now were really screwed.... She is one of Hills favorite ‘fillies’ and is really another Chuck E Skruumer in a skirt.
Confusing grade A from the NRA for this Socialist Rat ?!?!

Paterson has been under pressure to select a woman
In America should that not be under pressure to select the most qualified and best person for the position
Guess the Democrat Party has its own way of doing things...
Nice bang on New York City. Upstate needs a stake in the Senate.
Upstate new York is Republican territory. Patterson is watching out for 2010 and picking a candidate that doesn’t have to go through a primary to appeal to the center against Giuliani.
Savvy political move.
Gillibrand was sworn into office in January 2007 and is currently serving her first term as U.S. Representative
Crack reporting.
Does the rest of the article talk about how they're gonna fill her seat?

Bill Clinton campaigns for Gillibrand
Record, The (Troy, NY) - Tuesday, November 7, 2006

QUEENSBURY - Former President Bill Clinton told a crowd of Kirsten Gillibrand supporters Monday to reach out to undecided voters and “give them a push off the diving board.”
Clinton used the metaphor in describing voters in the 20th Congressional District he thinks are on the verge of supporting Gillibrand .
“Most of these people aren’t used to voting for people with a D after their name,” Clinton said.
It was the second time in 12 days Clinton took to the podium in support of Gillibrand - a Democrat and lawyer living in Columbia County. She has never run for political office before, but according to recent polls, Gillibrand has pulled even with incumbent U.S. Rep. John Sweeney, R-Clifton Park.
Clinton said there are still enough undecided voters left to swing the race either way.
“They are all standing on that diving board,” Clinton said to raucous reaction in a hangar at Floyd Bennett Memorial-Warren County Airport.
“She has waged a heroic campaign,” Clinton said. “No one thought when she first stuck her neck out that she had a shadow of a chance.”
Clinton criticized President Bush and the Republicans in Congress for most of the speech while he defended the economy and policies of his own administration.
“If you want change, vote for Kirsten Gillibrand ,” Clinton said, returning to the phrase over and over.
He said it’s wrong to think of the Democratic Party as cutting and running in Iraq.
“We’re the stop-and-think party; there is a difference,” he said.
(snip)
“Her only qualification seems to be that she didn’t have an abortion...”
LOL the DUMMIES are livid.
“Patterson has lost my vote”
“She’s basically a moderate republican”
“This DLCer won’t win statewide”
“Her house seat is as good as gone”
LOL
I actually think she’ll be a strong rat vote getter if she avoids a primary challenge.
