McCain only entered the race to ensure a win for Obama. He only added Gov. Paliin to the ticket to destroy her chances in any future campaigns.

I wouldn't mind sharing "my" file of McCainisms at all.

I am somewhat hampered at present. I'm TDY (on a "remote") ex-CONUS, and the data is at home.

Indeed, we're not allowed to use the base's PCs for politics, so I'm stuck accessing blogs via my personal (i.e. I bought it) Palm LifeDrive.

Anyway, the data really comes from my Dad. He's on the highside of 90 and is an "unsavory old coot"(his words) who's been politically active since his 20s -- he takes Citizenship very seriously.
He's been collecting and organizing data about every national political figure my whole life (I'm over 60...), and I found GBs of it when we were taking over his affairs after a stroke. (nb: he's ok, but not yet able to return to tracking politics...).

When I get home I'll drop you a note via FR. I'm certain he won't mind sharing what he has.

>> Anyone wishing to hear a true conservative voice should read the text of the Governor’s SOTS speech. As I read it I could almost hear Ronald Reagan’s voice saying some of the words. It has that same optimistic tone of American exceptional-ism and potential that we all so loved about our fortieth President.

I think in 20-years-time, Sarah Palin very well could be the American version of Margaret Thatcher. It is always darkest just before the dawn ... I keep getting the feeling that the honorable Mrs. Palin will be the dawn.

I beg to differ. He was forestalling a "Conservative Uprising" and cutting off the move for a brokered convention. At one point that uprising seemed unstoppable. Especially after it came to light that both McC & Obie were using operatives to sow discord on the blogs. The libs were unfazed but conservatives didn't take kindly to the manipulation. (aside: it was a McC operative that started "John McCain: Only He Can Win in 2008!" as a post to every flaw expressed abt him. That's why I add the "tm" to it...)

Remember the picks who's names were floated previous? Remember "The Huge Sigh Of Relief" when he picked Gov.Palin? Everyone thought he'd settled down and realized his statement that his campaign "didn't need conservatives to win" was a mistake.

While that might have been true, Hannity et. al., all said they thought it signalled McC would be more centrist than maverick.
In otherwords, wishful thinking... but the pick did its job, ovrnight talk of a brokered convention disappeared.

I just got an email alert from Fox that McCain will be the guest on Sunday to comment on the new administration.

Wouldn’t it be a great time to give Fox News their lowest viewer ratings?

No Republican was saying Hillary can't be Secretary of State; they're just saying her husband shouldn't collect checks from foreign sources while she's doing that...But John McCain thinks that's being too partisan.

IMHO, McCain has never wavered from a conviction that the key to power is moderation. Not principles, not careful consideration of historical developments--only moderation...

His losses in 2000 and again in in 2008 have done nothing to disabuse him of this belief. Therefore, I have to believe that he is either a dolt or a dedicated enemy of Conservatism on the selfish basis that he perceives it to be a detriment to his political ambitions. I tend to favor the latter explanation.

He is obsessed with the middle of the road and most likely is convinced that whatever serves to bring him into high office is also the nation's best hope. No matter how it plays out, McCain is far from the kind of politician in whom anyone ought to put faith. His ego will most likely never allow him to leave the political scene gracefully. But, oh, how I wish he would just go.

In order to have Benjamin Franklin’s noble compromise, you have to stand FOR something then compromise.

You can’t stant FOR compromise then move to principle.

The burden of proof is upon you.

And, so far, you've been found wanting.

Ya got nothin’.

It really makes you wonder if, deep down, the guy sabatoged his own campaign.

Funny...I thought it was really obvious that he did.

Neither does a skunk...

re: Then maybe you need to see these:

Thanks for posting these. I find them, as Mr. Spock would say, "fascinating"...

Although this thread has drawn little interest, and as of this writing this particular post has drawn no comment, I submit that these two bits of data introduce a variety of ominous implications about the depth, degree and sophistication of the calculated manipulation of the American people in our ostensibly "free" electoral system. Any honest discussion of these issues requires the serious reconsideration and re-evaluation of many peoples' basic premises and assumptions.

There is an old saying which goes: "An honest man, when shown he is in error, must, by definition, cease being one or the other."

One useful, and frightening, aspect of penetrating, shocking and illuminating posts such as yours is that they help demonstrate in which category of the above statement the various posters on these threads belong.

If the people of Arizona are dumb enough to send this senile old geezer back to the Senate after 2010, then maybe we should give Arizona back to Mexico.

This would be perfect for McCain, since he has a big soft spot in his heart for illegal aliens.

Thanks for posting. Yes, very interesting. I no longer trust the “Party” and will no longer send any money to them as I feel this would be poor stewardship of my money. I may likely give to individual candidates, but NOT to the Republican Party.

Food for thought. Probably the best thing about McCrazy losing the election is that Sarah Palin, a true conservative, will not be tainted by participating in his administration. She’ll live to fight another day.

I was thinking the same thing. There is a 99.99% chance that as part of a failed McCain administration, she would not be considered for a Presidential front runner in the next election.
