I am not stating the following as fact.

Of the tv documentaries I have clicked upon it is reported that most prison inmates were gang related prior to there incarceration.

They have seemed to use there cleverness/intelligence (Aryan Nation was set as example) to run a money making organization in and out of the walls they live in by running drugs and have even come up with a sophisticated encrypted
language to mail out orders.

Add to the other gangs black/Latino ect and some corrupt prison guards it is a society that thrives on in prison learned ways.

To bad that these criminals did not put those talents to use for the good before committing crimes/losing there rigtht to freedom ect..

Sure could have been a huge saving in taxes we spend and they could be contributors in our society.

Some prison officials primary jobs are to decipher encrypted letters going in/out of the prison and look for drugs ect.

All paid for courtesy of the US citizens via taxes.

Yet we toss aside the severely indigent mentally/physically disabled whom have no family or the elderly into state run facilities that pay Burger King wages and expose those for no cause of there own to live in filth/abuse ect.

I have seen Missionaries in other countries who provide love/care/shelter to severely disabled babies/kids (EWTN Documentaries) then the Govt run ones here in our country.

Many Freepers and Sarah Palin who have disabled kids GET IT on how KEEPING there child and the gifts from the exp. of doing so are something that words cannot describe.

(sorry got way off topic)

I don’t know why we let prisoners in these places have the amount of access to each other and to the outside world that is permitted them. Of course gangs are going to keep up the bad work in prison, if these people are allowed to use the prison as a simple staging ground where the state provides them room and board, which seems to be the case.

I agree with Doughty One. They should be kept separated as much as possible, not Supermax style if they’re not that type of prisoner (I guess the isolation there can literally drive people crazy), but certainly enough to keep them safe from each other and to prevent them from plotting together and organizing either inside the prison or outside of it.
