As you say. This fab will be automated and have relatively few workers, but they will be skilled and highly paid. They’ll probably hire baby sitters and lawn mowers, they’ll eat out at local restaurants, they’ll buy at local stores, and so forth.

Better than sending the fab to Maylasia or China, where all my Dell laptops seem to have been put together in recent years.

The cratering of the oil price probably limits the number of such new industrial constructions in the US; that low-down dollar was helping us for a while. Now that the dollar is worth more, we need to spend some of them on a sea-to-sea border fence with Mexico — preferably a multi-layer one, with an electronic frontier, including tunnel detection.
