Barack Obama Pledges to Fund Pro-Abortion UNFPA

Washington, DC -- Now that President Barack Obama has fulfilled his promise to overturn the Mexico City Policy and fund groups that promote and perform abortions in other countries, he is laying out additional pro-abortion plans. In his statement accompanying his executive order, Obama says UNFPA funding is next.

Funding United Nations Population Fund has long been a controversial topic and President Bush annually withheld the $40 million in taxpayer dollars the UN group had typically received.

He did so because a State Department investigation found the agency was working hand-in-hand with Chinese officials who instituted its one-child population control policy.

This is what taxpayers will be forced to pay for under Obama and Pelosi. http://www.weeklystandard.com/weblogs/TWSFP/2009/01/obama_and_forced_abortions_in_1.asp

Apparently, if thousands of Chinese women are forced to abort their unborn children--and baby girls, in particular, are targeted for death--well that's just collateral damage in the cause of "women's rights", in the view of groups like NOW. Of course, to be fair, feminists claim that UNFPA does not directly support forced abortions in China. I'm skeptical that UNFPA equipment and funds do not aid some of the doctors performing forced abortions, but it's indisputable that that the Communist party gives local bureaucrats population control goals to meet. When number of births exceeds the desired limit, the bureaucrats sometimes decide to round up women and abort their children. For example, in April 2007 in Guangxi province, "61 pregnant women were injected with an abortive drug after being dragged to local hospitals".

If Obama funds China's population control program without requiring China to prosecute those performing forced abortions--or, ideally, requiring China to do away with its one-child policy altogether--there will be a lot more horrifying stories coming out of China--brought to you, in part, by the American taxpayer.

They don't have birth control in China?

I hate reading that Obama is going to fund anything with which I vehemently disagree. He's forcing me to fund it.

There should be a lawsuit in there somewhere.

I am sure they do have birth control in China. I will ask my friend who is living there when we speak. For China being a communist country they do not give healthcare to the people. Many cannot afford health insurance. But you would think the government would have BC available. One thing in China is all medicines go intravenously so maybe BC are not available orally. I will ask.

It is abominable taxpayers will be forced to destroy lives and take away human rights. Obama will het hit hard on this one.

I received a reply on China and whether they have birth control.

The PRC has enforced abortion (you've had one already, tough), optional abortion, (you don't want this one??..no problem), and enforced birth control (required IUD until menopause) after the first child is born, regardless of the fact there is no choice, it's not free.

side note, when they execute someone, the family must pay for the bullet,a nice civilized touch, huh? of course, there is always the choice of selling body parts for transplants.

should you somehow avoid the system and have a another baby, they're not allowed in state schools, to have a legal job, and if the government finds out, they've been known to bulldoze your house as punishment.

lovely, huh?

We will fund this with taxpayer dollars under Obama? This is evil personified. Why am I thinking back to Obama's stem cell research and possible organ harvesting stories?!?!? Abortions will provide stem cell research for one thing.

So in China they force abortions and the citizens must pay all medical costs but we will also fund the human rights abuse travesty? If the citizens are forced to pay then why do they need funding? And unless Obama agrees with this why would he ask for funding from taxpayers?

Thanks for the info!

I can’t think of any reason for the US to send China a nickel for any sort of aid.... we’d be sending them money they loaned to us! It’s nuts!

Besides, we buy enough from them anyway.
