Milwaukee first-graders offer ideas for Obama
Milwaukee Journal Sentinel ^ | 1/26/09 | Alan J. Borsuk

What do you want to see President Barack Obama do in his first 100 days in office? Here's how 20 first-graders at Hartford University School, a public school tucked into the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee campus, answered that question.

There probably won't be much talk at the White House in coming weeks about better prices for toys, but Obama could certainly do worse than listen to some of the ideas - or to keep in mind why some answered the way they did.

1. Give us more jobs.

2. Lower the price of gas.

3. Give us more money.

4. Love everyone.

5. Lower the prices of food.

6. Lower the prices of video games.

7. Take away guns.

8. Make it easier to go to college.

9. Stop wars.

10. Make it easier to see a doctor.

11. Help people.

12. Stop people from selling drugs.

13. Stop people from smoking.

14. Stop people from killing each other.

15. Give toys better prices.

16. Give houses and cars bulletproof windows.

17. Fix the streets.

18. Fix traffic.

19. End all slavery.

20. Give us more money for field trips.

While the quality of journalism has slipped to the point where many have remarked that "my kindergartner can do better," the truth is that 1st graders are actually doing the writing.

And with their suggestion of adding bulletproof glass to auto and house windows, we may also have a stimulus fund suggestion that trumps area politico's plans for rail lines, buses and parks...

But the O administration offered up a solution for education: Build a new building in some school in Houston? My husband heard that (he’s a teacher) and he just about went nuts....”how does building a building help educate kids better?” they need to pay teachers a better salary so more qualified people will want to become teachers and good teachers will want to stay in the teaching field”...Democrats want to throw money at every problem, NOT SOLVE the problem!

That list could have come from your average “adult” liberal.

In quality of policies promoted, those 1st graders have already reached the level of the Democratic party. Adding gutter language and anger, those suggestions sound like Democratic Underground.

Milwaukee is on the list of the “10 Most Poverty Stricken” cities in the country. They haven’t had a Republican mayor for 50 years. Judging from this list of hand-outs, the dems have done a good job at creating easily amused, spiral eyed dolts.

19. End all slavery

On April 15, we'll all reason to ponder the line between legitmate tazation and slavery.

The sad part is if you surveyed the adults who voted for Obama you would get the same answers as the 5 year olds, especially the “give us money” part.

MM, I nominate this one for the “Another Reason to Homeschool” list.

I don’t think first graders come up with ideas like “take away guns” and “lower the price of gas” on their own.

Why not? Obama was elected by people with the mentalities of children, so why shouldn't actual children have a say in developing Obama's policies?

These ideas would at least make more sense than some of the “real issues” on the agenda.

21) More greencollar jobs.

22) Bigger tax returns for the tax-exempt.

23) Nitrogen-powered cars.
