Local news with pictures. Aircraft landed on icy runway, veered off and caught fire. Crew escaped, airplane did not. Airport is closed because of icy runways.

I liked their old name "Flying Tigers" better.

When I lived in Des Plaines, Ill. (real close to OHare) we saw them coming and going constantly.

Of course their founders' original planes were even neater.

Flying Tigers air transport was originally founded by ten AVG (American Volunteer Group) members but the name is now FEDEX....a lot less colorful name that buries their history.

April 1994 a FedEx DC 10 was attacked just after take off from the Memphis Hub, by a jump seating off duty pilot.

Despite the crew being severely injured, they subdued the attacker and landed safely.
