You’re right, a lot of things really weren’t solved after 1947, but the current status of east Jerusalem will remain a tinderbox.

Are you a U.N. troll?
Read what I wrote and tell me where I mentioned the UN at all.

The best solution, if anyone would consider it, would be to make the whole of the old city an international zone governed equally by the three religions who have claims there. There is only one of the three religions to whom Jerusalem was and is the recognized capital. Jerusalem is the unquestioned capital of the state of Israel. Israel has been administering the whole city in a fair and just manner since 1967. It would be preposterous for Mitchell, the Arab ethnic, to push a plan by which Israeli sovereignty over all of Jerusalem is compromised. As Netanayu said, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."

(IsraelNN.com) Likud party chairman and Knesset Opposition leader MK Binyamin Netanyahu warned at the Jerusalem Conference Wednesday that the Obama administration and leftist Israeli politicians will try to internationalize holy sites in Jerusalem -- and he vowed to fight the move.Internationalization will always work for Muzzies. Just look how they control the UN via bribery plus the many Muzz nations that exist and vote

That is far from being a new idea. It has been rejected countless times by both sides.
I know. That's why I wrote "if anyone would consider it."
Shortsighted, IMO, but predictable.

....thats some of the best news Ive heard yetWould it be Washington, D.C. instead of Jerusalem, I dare say you wouldn't embrace this idea so easily. Put Israel's shoes on your feet and walk around in them.

The UK position on Jerusalem
Don't take this the wrong way, but: F the UK.
It was their ineptitude that caused most of this grief in the first place and, as suck, their opinion means exactly dick to me.

Filo. That's like saying that Saint Patrick's Cathedral in New York should be internationalized. I think not.
The temple was originally built by and a sacred site of the Jews; not Muslims. They took it over and claimed Mohammad ascended into the heavens there. Just be cause they say so, doesn't mean it trumps the original sacredness established by the Jews.

Who do you suppose would have to play babysitter in your proposal?

They can have DC too.
Note that I didn't say that Jerusalem or this entity would govern Israel - just the holy city (the old city of Jerusalem.)
If they take the imbeciles in Washington off our hands I'd consider that a bonus.

Yeah, right after Makkah & Madinah are made international zones.
To: kabar
Screw the UK who ran “Palestine” before the Jews drove them out. England’s leaders have all kinds of Arabs to keep happy including its huge internal Muslim problem..... Same internal populations of restive Muslims that have been conducting raucous demonstrations all over Europe for their Gaza brothers
Muslims believe they have a right to live in Europe and anywhere on Earth. As part of Allah’s plan they make Jihad until every nation is a Muslim nation
But Jews are not allowed to live in the Middle East in peace. Give Muslims the West Bank and it will bring more rockets and missiles for Israel

And how many religions lay claim to St. Patrick's?

Not merely political posturing by Netanyahu. Obama himself talked about making political alliances with Israeli leftists - who, of course, work hand in hand in hand with the J Street types of American Jews to whom O is ultimately pandering. Netanyahu is legitimately trying to head off the Israeli left at a critical time, with Iran close to nuclear weapon capabilities. If he’s not the next Israeli PM, Israel will be in deeper trouble than ever in its entire history.

We wouldn't want something like New York City to be “internationalized?” Such an idea would be disaster to Israel. There would be no controlling authority to secure the city from terrorists and outside influence. One day we would wake up and, Poof! No Jerusalem.
