Louisiana Senator David Vitter tells Newsmax TV how the economic stimulus plan is no good for the economy. He says there are too few tax cuts and some of the items listed as tax cuts aren’t cuts at all, but new spending programs. He also notes this is another attempt by Democrats to channel billions of dollars to ACORN, the group that actively supported Obama and other Democrats during the campaign.

The GOP caucus was unanimous in their opposition. WAY TO GO, HOUSE GOP!
Now if we can get the Senate to line up the same way, we can actually STOP this dreadful bill.

Good for them. Good things come to those who wait. I applaud them.
Now, they need to put pressure on the Senate to do likewise!

This is great. Let the democrats wear this. Now the house republicans need to start screaming from the mountain tops about the pork and ripoff contained in this bill. Bring it up at every opportunity and even if it isn’t the topic of conversation.

Can the Senate filibuster this? I guess they could since it’s not an omnibus package.
If they tried, the Dems would change the Rule and end filibustering.

The economy will recover. I’ve got no problem with that. My problem is that the recovery will be credited to this monstrous spending bill, when in fact it served as the dead chicken in the waving ceremony.
Free-lunch theorists will then blame knock-back effects on a failure to accelerate the spending, and/or a tightening of credit policies. The media will carry this fiction, and it will be written in the texts of economic history, ala the charade of FDR.

We’ll know for sure once the roll is posted on the House website. I seem to recall there were 2 Dems and one GOP who did not vote. My guess that would be Emanuel and Gillibrand. Don’t know who the GOP non-voter is.

My problem is that the recovery will be credited to this monstrous spending bill, when in fact it served as the dead chicken in the waving ceremony. How soon will the recovery come about? A decade like the last Depression? This is going to delay or make worse any recovery. It could send the country down the crapper as the entitlement mess is going bust within a decade. It is the perfect storm.
