Alarm & Muster
The Modern-Day Call-Tree for Emergency Preperation
Thomas Michael Fernandez, January 2009
Months before the first shots of the American Revolution were fired; colonials had devised and developed what appeared to be a modern day "call-tree." Though communication during the 18th Century was limited to pen, paper, and horseback, the network they had set up prior to the night of April 18, 1775 was almost as modern as today's communication abilities of cell phone, email, and video.

Ok kids... I've signed on for Tom's list. I'm currently acting as PoC for my home State of MN. As stated, this is a pre-caution. This is one step for getting active and an attempt to "do something" other than whine on the Internet or join up with yet another failed letter writing campaign.
You don't have to join this list. Form your own. Find those people you shoot with, go bowling with, have an after Church lunch with, that would interested in answering a call during an all out TEOTWAWKI/SHTF scenario.
If you have been active at all on the Internet, with the NRA, or politically, then more than likely you are already on some government list or another. Paranoia over this may be warranted, but if your tinfoil is wrapped that tight already, this isn't going to add to it much.
Things are getting bad out there folks. Luck favors the prepared.
To: Dead Corpse
Excellent and about time, I’ve already been contacting like minded neighbors, but I will start expanding my personal network and getting the message out...
As you previously stated... and that is something I was taught in the military... Luck ALWAYS favors the prepared.
Thanks for the post!

From the mountains of SW Virginia, we are ready for the call. I’ve talked to many and have asked if they would be willing to give up their firearms? The answer is always the same, “Hell NO.” Without a means to resist, we become slaves.

Hmmm...here in my neighborhood, where the chattering classes congregate, I believe the useful idiots are stocking up on their coffee and snagging an espresso machine, just in case SYHF (Y=yogurt, instead of "S", for those of us with young children, lol), and Starbucks DOES declare bankruptcy. Yes, things could get bad. The GAP might go under, too.
Can't have last season's jeans, that would just be TEOTWAWKI...

Me too. Got wind of this effort from the
Righttokeepandbeararms.com web forum. I've seen it over at AR15.com and 10mmtalk.com already. Figured it needed to be here as well.
I'm looking at this as more of a Prayer Chain type thing. If all else fails, it gives us an excuse to get connected with like-minded folks and at the very least gives us an excuse to have a meet-n-greet or a group range day.

That's the general attitude amongst most of the gun owners I know. Some of whom have joined the ranks of the "gun culture" only recently and in response to the growing threat of government to those Rights. A "use it now before we lose it" kind of thing.
I'm okay with that. At least some are waking up. Gives me an opportunity to "take a newbie to the range". ;-)

Nah, without the caffeine they won’t be able to function and withdrawal gives you such a headache you wouldn’t believe. I’d advise buying stock in Bayer, but most of them don’t have enough education or common sense to look there for a fix.

I don’t think I’ve ever actually been in a Starbucks. If I want something that fancy, I just dig out my cappuccino machine.

None of us can stand it. It tastes like the grounds. We grind our own (when budget permits) and think it’s great. About the only time we get “fancy” is when we put a shot of Irish Whiskey, sugar and whipped cream with chocolate sprinkles. What can I say — we’re solidly middle class. ;-) I do love cappuccino when we go out to an Italian Restaurant.
To: Constitutions Grandchild
I melted in home-made caramel with some Jameson once. Can't remember what kind of bean I used, it may have been a Kona blend.
Decadent.

No prob. I figure I'm probably on a few of the govts lists already. May as well have one of our own.

Already talking to family, friends, etc... I get word from upstream, I pass it on to a couple of different mail lists and forums. Where it goes from there is up to each individual.

That is why later (or now) phone numbers and addresses can and should go to each regional POC, on of the first actions in a major "action" is to cut data and communications within a targeted area...

Amen Brother, I'm not a very religious guy. But with whats happening these days, I've been rethinking that... a lot!
I've already shot the Alarm and Muster out to friends and family all over the country and I'm getting some good feed back on it, a lot of people have been feeling the same way. I have a feeling this is going to grow fast.

As much as I've been hammering my Federal Congress critters for their unconstitutional transgressions over the years, Mil and LEO experience, Rifle/Pistol Comp, RKBA/NRA/GOA Activism... yeah I'm pretty sure I've made quite a few "lists" over the years... so one more definitely wont hurt. ;-)

A friend and I have talked recently about trying to put together a “Constitution Study Group,” for the purpose of establishing communication links between like-minded people. Not so much weapon-oriented, paramilitary stuff (though I’m intensely devoted to RKBA), but rather learn who shares beliefs and attitudes and what knowledge and skills they can bring. Conservatives (and certainly shooters) are generally independent types who don’t organize in this manner very often. I myself tend to be pretty reclusive. In this present climate that’s a glaring weakness.

There's always room at our house for one more. More kids, dogs, football players and service men find their way to our doorstep than you can imagine and all are welcome.
My family has always made fun of our policy — calling it “The Church of the Open Door,” and hubby often worries how we're going to feed them all, but we manage. I would gladly build a fire in the fireplace or the bbq pit for a good night of food and friends and laughter — we keep it moderately clean, respectful and always loving. Let me know and we'll set an extra place. ;-)
To: AvOrdVet
Oh, and music. On Saturday nights it's opera an Italian or Cajun and zydeco. In the summers it's Hank Williams, Jr. and Willie Nelson or good jazz and lots of tiki torches (mosquitoes are hell in St. Louis). ;-)

Thank you for posting this! It's an excellent and very well researched piece.
I know that I'm definitely on a few "lists" somewhere and, quite frankly, don't give a damn. When/if they come for my guns I will NOT give them up willingly - my friends and family know this and accept it. I would rather die a patriot than live as a slave. I will be contacting Tom to add my name to his list and will, if necessary, do everything in my power to protect our Republic.

I've read it, and I am offended by a lot of it. Were there no women in the country during the times he's talking about? Are there no other guns rights organizations except the NRA?
I'm thinking this was written to enhance the coffers of the NRA through new memberships--but that's just me.

VR-21, I’m reclusive as well and like the “Constitution Study Group” idea. Perhaps local sport and rec clubs have something going. I did pursue an allegiance with an aforementioned internet group only to be belittled for asking a question. But I’m on enough forums that I should be able to find my place. In the interim I’ll work on distribution of Tom’s “Alarm and Muster” and study group formation as I have some things to hopefully offer.
