I agree. I have heard his “invest in CD’s” and I’m thinking “REALLY?”

Now I’m worried.

My cars are paid off, and the remainder of my consumer debt will be paid off in the next 2 months, thanks to Dave Ramsey introducing discipline to my budgeting.

That’s about 50k in debt.

Thanks Dave!

I agree with the thought that to pay cash for cars and the like is the only way to go.

However I use my credit card for most other purchases and then pay off the balance each month. The CC company pays me to use their card. I use the cash dividends to give my wonderful neighbors gift cards for being so wonderful. It works so well, but I know Ramsey thinks I'm a fool for not paying for stuff with cash.

I have no debt and want for nothing so CC purchases are minimal.

Well, lots of people, like me, were saying Obama is a socialist, but a lot of others were saying that we were exaggerating.

Anyway, I saw this youtube from another site and liked it, without knowing who Dave Ramsey is.

I am currently using Dave's plan. It works, funny how living within your means works every time.

Why is he against using a card for ease of use and then paying it off? It costs nothing and as you said, the 1% back or so really does add up. Plus, I like the protection of being able to dispute the charge if anything goes wrong. And how else can I buy stuff online? (After CA increases its sales tax, I will be buying anything I can out of state, out of principle alone.)

Obama will put himself first, Islam second, his supporters third with America’s monies.

He is king of the world now, nothing matters, he could care less about America, people are DYING RIGHT NOW in the US from the results of him being president.

The manipulation of the markets facilitated by his handlers from the Middle East that led to the economic disaster in the US already has victims, families committing murder/suicide, a veteran freezing to death. And millions losing investments and the American dream to be replaced with.. the Islamic Decree.

If you really pay it off each month, then there's no problem. However, he cites statistics showing the vast majority of people do not pay them off each month. That's why he considers them evil. Same with TDSP-back loans. I used one successfully and paid it off just fine. Too many people find themselves laid off or fired and they have to pay the whole thing back just at the time they lose their income. Most of his advice is geared toward worst-case scenarios.

Had to laugh this morning. We looked in my 21-year old daughter's room and on her white board was written: "Children do what feels good. Adults devise a plan and stick to it."

That makes sense, from what I've seen of a lot of people. I suppose it's easy for them to just put off paying the whole thing. I think I was born a Ramseyite, even though I still don't even know much about him, because I've always been really frugal, hated being in debt, and don't even enjoy something if it costs too much. A good deal warms my heart more. Family and friends have thought me odd - but in hindsight, I'm glad I'm this way, especially in light of possible upcoming economic chaos. Thanks for the info. And you've obviously done a great job raising your daughter!

Dave...Dave...Dave.....Glenn...Glenn....Glenn....and yes Savage,Savage, Savage and even at times Rush, Rush, Rush....

the so called "conservatives" were lukewarm to any Pub after the globalist Bush, and can't really blame them, but jeepers creepers folks....you had to know this was coming...you could have come out STRONG for McCain and against the bolshevik.....

lukewarm "support" gets nobody anywhere.........

btw...this is why we got McCain....the lukewarm primary season where not one candidate was given raw open support by the conservative talk masters....

Sarah Palin was NOT lukewarm.....she was a force...if only we had more like her, ready to lay in all on the line....self, family, prospects, hopes, dreams, the whole 9 yards....

Dave Ramsey is the real deal. I have a lot of friends who work for him and they cannot say enough great things about him.

My wife and I went through his Financial Peace University. We paid off about 30k of debt in a little over 2 years. We have been living debt free, other than our house, for 3 years. Life changing stuff.

Ramsey thinks the use of credit cards leads to indiscriminate buying of stuff you don't need just because you can. I can see his point if view and given the number of people who are in trouble that's good advice.

For those of us who don't go shopping except for groceries and gas and an occasional book, I don't see anything wrong with using credit but paying off the entire account each month.
