Jimmy Carter tag has Obama wincing Republicans are pinning their hopes of revival on painting the president as naive abroad and wasteful at home Sarah Baxter, Washington
LESS than two weeks into his administration, President Barack Obama is being portrayed by opponents as a new Jimmy Carter - weak at home and naive abroad - in an attempt to dim his post-election glow and ensure that he serves only one term.
The charge has stung because it was made privately by Hillary Clinton supporters during a hard-fought primary campaign and plays to fears about Obamas inexperience.
He is engaged in early trials of strength with Republicans in Washington and critics of the United States around the world not least Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, the Iranian president. Obama faces battles to talk Wall Street into giving up its addiction to large bonuses and US banks to start lending again.
Barack Obama thinks he can charm his adversaries into changing their ways but his personality cant change the dynamics, said Tom Edmonds, a Republican consultant. Related Links
Carter [president from 1977 to 1981] had the same belief in naive symbolism. Their styles are very different but the political similarities are there.

Hey, Zero........SUCK IT!!!
Thats the good news the reality is worse.
And guess who was president when the GDP was this bad.
Why ole peanut farmer of course. And rather than follow Reagan’s formula for improving the economy he’s going back to FDR’s failed policies.
He’s Carter redux, only squared.
Payback in this case is not only fair...
it is VERY FITTING!!!
and we’re being kind....
Obama should be happy about this. He’s got the next igNoble “Peace” Prize in the bag. Tutu, Mandela and all of Africa will be naming crap after him.
As bad and incompetent as he was, Carter actually had business, military and executive level experience as Georgia’s governor than “the one” whose only claim is as activist.
Most Americans do not remember how Carter magically seemed to appear on the American political scene. Like Obozo, Carter promised change and hope — telling us mean and cynical government that we had come to expect from Washington was a thing of the past.
It became apparent within 6 months Carter was incompetent and clueless. With Obozo, it will take less than a month.
I’ve been highlighting this since last year in my tagline.
Carter re-duh...
1 = 0
Oh and by the way where is the liberal outcry on the ice storm? Where is Obama and FEMA?
At least 42 people have died, including 11 in Kentucky, and conditions are worsening in many places days after an ice storm knocked out power to 1.3 million customers from the Plains to the East Coast. And with no hope that the lights will come back on soon, small communities are frantically struggling to help their residents. per BRUCE SCHREINER, Associated Press

I see a bumper sticker!
They're busy cranking up the heat in the Oval Office.
It was a little chilly in there at 72,,,,
77 is much, much more comfy.
Carter has been hoping and praying that before he dies, someone else carries the mantle of “Worst President in American History”. His day may finally have come. The baton has been passed.
Remember Jimmy Carter in his cardigan sweater, preaching to us about keeping the thermostat down?
Yes - but I cannot find a photo/video!!!
That would be rich - to see Carter in his cardigan preaching about conservation - juxtaposed with the Hawaian shirt;) LOL!!
“Jimmy Carter is the Skidmark in the panties of American History. Barack 0bama is his second term”
I just noticed, and have promptly stolen your line. Thanks
I hope and pray we do not have incompetent outcomes that had historical, mutli-decade consequences that Carter gave us with Obama. Every President after Carter, has had to mop up his mess, I can't imagine what Sarah Palin will need to do to clean out the mess left in the Obama Stable....
This mook may make Jimmuh look good...
