A pioneering house-buying team of 20 to 30 people, organized by Soufun.com, one of the largest real estate portals in China, is scheduled to leave for the United States on Feb. 12, according to an article on Soufun.com.

Free trade works until an Asian nation wants to buy a baseball team. Haven’t we learned that with Seatle when the Japanese wanted to buy her. I agree with you, how would free trade GOP’ers like to have Chicoms buying up homes in their affluent neighborhoods. They will probably react the same way Dem limo liberals when someone proposes to put wind mills in their neighborhoods. Dems and GOP are all the same, time for a new party!!!

So, if I want to cash in my farm and move even FURTHER into the woodwork and away from the pukes in DC, live off the grid and earn a pittance each year that supports ME but doesn’t generate any taxable income going to Mother Government it’s un-American to make a tidy profit now when I can?

Who says? Joe Biden? LOL!

The weak Dollar ensured that many overseas investors made good returns in the last cycle. An under reported event IMO.

Have the prices returned to pre-bubble rates?

The Free Traitors will try to spin it such that housing prices will now increase because the Chi Coms are decreasing the excess of housing.

However many Americans can't afford homes now because of high prices (in many areas).

“how would free trade GOP’ers like to have Chicoms buying up homes in their affluent neighborhoods.”

They did this when Hong Kong was going to go over to communist China.

I know of 2 homes that were sold in the $800k class in Glendale, CA..

Being a homeowner they got green cards and also government $250k loans @ 3%.

Selling property to Japan in the 1989-1990 recession was one of the smartest things we did. Not only did they pay more than the properties were worth, they ended up having to sell them back half a decade later, at a loss.

At the end of the day, repossessing property, and returning it back to your own country is essentially impossible. It’s hard to pick up a lot and air-lift it across the ocean!

Ummm, Nintendo DID buy the Mariners. They are the majority owner of the team. It was an American businessman who wanted to relocate the Mariners; Nintendo - specifically, Mr. Yamauchi - bought controlling interest in the Mariners and have kept them in Seattle.

And thanks to the Nintendo/Mariners relationship, we've had Ichiro Suzuki and Kenji Johjima.

They’ll tell you it’s good for us.

Those Chinese better learn Spanish if they are planning to buy in southern California.

Let them buy. And we as U.S. Citizens will refuse to purchase them in perpetuity. They’ll be worth $0.00.

Sounds like a good idea to me. It would be nice to have folks with a bunch of come in and shore up the market and possibly keep the prices from falling further. It’s not like they will take the land and move it. Why would free anyone be upset about it?
