What’s wrong with reaching out to gays and prochoicers?

If they want to come on in and vote along with us, it’s the only way we’re ever going to expand our numbers—not by becoming liberals, but saying “You’re welcome to come on in and join us.”

If we’re confident that our ideas are right and when one thinks about them they’re the obvious smart choice, we shouldn’t be afraid of gays and abortionists—whoops, prochoicers—coming along because of our ideas about defense (against Islamofascists, who hate gays and prochoicers), taxes (show them that keeping taxes low empowers the individual), small government, etc.

As long as WE don’t change to attract them, what is the problem?

And if we don’t start adding to our numbers, how are we going to change the current situation? Where are “new” voters going to come from if not from outside the party?

If you listen to steele (and I have a lot lately) you would know that he means the pubbies must change and adapt to the new liberal America... the one the DC beltway insiders think exist. steele is just another out of touch dc rino. The only difference between steele and lindsey graham is skin color.

Sure that works well. Send you children to public school, it won't change their values one bit.

"Reaching out" and "changing to attract" are two ways of saying the same thing.

you are going to see the Republican party slide down the slippery slope by courting gay/pro-choiccers as once they jump board you bet your bottom dollars they will want to be represented 100% even though they would account for .01% of the total vote. The writing is on the wall, we have become the party of come one come all we want your vote above all else and our parties principals are secondary to winnin elections...

Welcome to the new and improved Republican party 2.0 complete with Myspace, Facebook, YouTube, Twitter and the next trendy idea that comes along. Don’t worry that the same RINO message is the same, this time for 2010 and 2012, it is a can’t lose, we have the INTERNETS!!!

I thought maybe you might rethink what you consider to be reaching out. This bunch that exist for their gayness and prochoice principles are NOT going to find anything about conservatives attractive, unless we stop being conservatives.

Actually I am beginning to see the scenario of Gideon getting replayed and God is paring down to His acceptable number so the rest of the world will know who is in control.

That’s the fear. That liberals like Steele and Todd-Whitman and McCain and Giuliani will be the new leaders of the party and their policies will be the new identification of the party. Which would basically make it a pro-defense and low tax version of the Democrats.

I can’t even make it to the end of this first page. Grrrr!

I agree, reaching out is not a problem. Excluding those who do not share the same viewpoint has been the problem and will always be the problem.
