Sorry, the article was about Turkey, probably the Syrian situation is different. At least, I heard there’s a strong Christian community either in Syria or in Lebanon (the countries border each other).

This is very sad . I’m in the middle of reading “From the Holy Mountain” by William Dalrymple, his travels through Christianity in the Middle East. When he was at Mor Gabriel around 1995 it was still functioning as it had for 1500 years.

This is an excellent book for anyone interested in Eastern Christianity.

If you want to hear Aramaic go to Youtube at “Aramaic Lord’s Prayer”.

Eastern Christianity is freely practiced in Syria, unlike in the Mohammedan paradises allied to (and propped up by) the US.

“On the Turkish side, these priceless sites are used as stables and for target practice.”

And for public urinals....

Just yesterday on the way home from the office I heard a Turk businessman from Cyprus whining that the British and Germans weren’t building their vacation villas in Turkish occupied Cyprus because of the economy and then a bit later some silly English woman saying she ad left that part of Cyprus because the power and sewer and water were simply too undependable. So we can see what and who has propped up the Turk regime. We can also see what matters to Westerners.

“I’m in the middle of reading “From the Holy Mountain” by William Dalrymple, his travels through Christianity in the Middle East.”

That’s a wonderful book. Dalrymple, I’m told, became Orthodox after the trip. When you are done, get a copy of +John Moschos’ Spiritual Meadow, the book Dalrymple refers to regularly.

I heard many plots offered for sale there in fact belonged to the Greeks who fled to the western side of the island during the war. So buying such property can be qualified as buying something stolen. Who'd take such risk?

“Who’d take such risk?”

Apparently British and Germans. Its risky enough buying and in Greece, at least it was, but buying stolen land in Cyprus from Turks is the height of idiocy, unless of course the Western Europeans and the Turkophiles in the State Department get their way, as they have for 30+ years now, and the Turks’ seizure of the northern part of Cyprus gets an international imprimatur.

Yup. The purpose of a monastery is to teach the principals of faith. I don’t see where Christians are asking Muslims to stop teaching the principals of their faith, only to stop attacking those who are not Muslims.

There’s a million practicing Christians in Syria and even a few Christian villages where Aramaic is spoken.

I think your comments are very unfair:

"More evidence that islam is a pestilence that should be eradicated from the earth as the oppressive and reprehensible and evil belief that it is."

Pestlience can perform an important function in reducing overly large populations, which can be beneficial over time...it shouldn't be compared to Islam. ;)

ISLAMIZATION PING LIST - NEW AS OF FEBRUARY 2009 I have not found a ping list that speaks specifically to this issue, so I am starting one.

The global and purposeful movement of Islam to spread across Europe, North America and eventually the world is the greatest present and emerging threat to western society and its Christian foundation. If you would like to discuss Islam's offensive strategy against Christianity and the West, and keep abreast of the ever-alarming growth of Islam generally, please FRMail and you will be added to the ISLAMIZATION ping list.
