If the choice is Charley Crist or Bob Smith, I doubt that I will be choosing my old acquaintence Crist. That's like choosing between a turd and douchebag.
Luckily, Bob Smith wouldn't be the only choice apart from Crist. Marc Rubio and Connie Mack IV are running and are much better options than the traitor Smith.
