Nobody’s perfect. I guess as long as there’s no similar flight number in that area it works out OK.

Probably just misstatements in the going's on of the moment. Sounded like Sully himself used 1539 on one of the early transmissions. Truth is, once communication is established between ATC and a pilot they use a variety of ID’s for further transmissions. Although they don't usually change the numerical designation!

Somewhere in the first of half of the audio the controller gives a turn to another flight and you can't really tell what the call was.
