How about a balance to television, cable and newspapers?
Yo, StabaCOW... which part of ... “CONGRESS SHALL MAKE NO LAW...” did you MISS at “Senator School?”
It is accountable to its advertisers.
Can you blame him ?
Since when are liberals interested in anything approaching fairness? They know liberal talk radio doesnt’ sell, because it doesn’t have an audience. People can always get the liberal spin on regular newscasts.
Visual image coming into focus on the Stabenow creature: treadmill and a can of slim fast. The stimulus bill is not the only thing that needs to shed the fat./Just Asking - seoul62......
Looks like Debbie could make about three Alycia’s.
If imposed the fairness regulations will basically kill smaller AM radio stations whose major source of advertising revenue is from ads run with popular talk shows like Rush and Hannity. No one will want to listen to Air America type drivel or endless informercials nor will local advertisers want to buy ads during those programs. I could see satellite radio being a big winner in the fairness wars as the large audiences for conservative talk radio would flock to non censored satellite radio broadcasts.
She’s a genius compared to Babs Boxer!
She should focus on the Senate’s “Improved Nutrition and Physical Activity Act” (IMPACT), instead.
This is one of those things that should cause massive civil disobedience.
What standards would she like placed on her free speech rights?
Bill would rather undermine the 1st Amendment to further a sleazy, liberal agenda than admit the truth. People don’t listen to liberal talk radio because they don’t need it. The 0media, which includes the Hollywood leftnuts, provide born again Omericans with 24/7 liberal hype. Conservative talk radio and conservative blogs are the only news sources propping up the 1st Amendment. They are doing exactly what our Founders intended news media to do.
Thinly veiled censorship, an affront to the First Amendment, and should be resisted at every turn.
The Libs have access to the same radio airwaves as everyone. To date, their attempts to capitalize on that access have failed. On the other hand, they still pretty much own the print media and television.
We don’t need anything like the Fairness Doctrine revisited upon the American broadcast industry.
Please make your elected officials aware of your views on this subject.
Fairness Doctrine Ping.
Does the fairness standard pass the reasonableness test?
They’re just threatening this to intimidate their opponents on radio so they’ll shut up. The Fairness Doctrine is unconstitutional and isn’t going anywhere as no doubt the GOP would filibuster any bill.
what free speech??
shut down conservatism, thats the goal.
but we both know it will not apply to liberal radio or TV
lol. Githner, Daschle, Panetta etc etc, all the cream of the crop and pure as snow
