Sen. Graham Goes Ballistic: President AWOL, Stimulus Process a Joke, "Count me Out!"
Lindsey Graham ^

Posted on 02/05/2009 1:22:33 PM PST by quesney

starting at 4:00

Fox: You say the president has been AWOL...He's been writing editorials, he's been all over the media, you don't think that's an approach that's been work-...

Graham: No, no, no, no. Scaring people is not leadership. Writing an editorial that if you don't pass this bad bill, we're going to have disaster....We've had enough presidents trying to scare people into making bad decisions...[Obama] is not leading. Having lunch is not leading. Getting people in a room like Ronald Reagan and Tip O'Neill did to solve Social Security has not happened here. Doing TV interviews is not leading.

We need a bunch of Republicans and Democrats in a room with the White House to find out how to smartly spend money to create jobs and if it doesn't create a job in the near-term, we shouldn't spend the money.

Fox: Do you fear the risk of being labeled a partisan with that kind of talk...?

Graham: If this is bipartisanship, count me out...this process stinks. It's been a partisan exercise in the House and the Senate...I am very disappointed.

...This is not the way you spend $800 billion...$1 trillion with interest!...16 senators behind closed doors trying to figure out how to do it by tonight. That's CRAZY!!

Isn't this the same Sen. Graham that was part of the infamouse "Gang of 14" that caucused behind closed doors regarding "bipartisan" agreement to not filabuster over judicial appointments?

The banks only need about another sixty trillion, so if we toss ‘em a trillion a week, we can have this whole thing wrapped up by early next year.

Yeah; I wonder if this isn’t because he got wind of a well-financed challenge in his next primary. Grah-amnesty’s not trusted in the SC GOP.

People are starting to see that leadership by a President is one thing and something completely different from a dictator wannabe.

Well said and a helluva lot more civil than what I was thinking.

The stand by the house pubbies has given the RINOs a testosterone infusion! And it all started with Rush, Sean, Mark, Savage and the rest...the public opinion that talk radio can muster which, in turn, can be translated into legislative action (or as here, NON-action) will keep the unFairness Doctine at bay.

No, it should have bee obvious all along from the way he and liberman were always present with McCain that there would be a moderate revolt for which they would have major roles.

He will not be conservsative but he will dampen the socialism.

“Not only is that NOT leadership,,,,that is NOT EVEN BEING IN THE GAME.

AWOL was a good choice of words.”

Once again, Obamby has voted “Present.”

He offered nothing in specifics--and let Pelosi virtually write the whole thing. Not only is that NOT leadership,,,,that is NOT EVEN BEING IN THE GAME.

You think he gave the same instruction that he gave for the TARP negotiations - when he left the table and told everyone that if they needed him to call him on the phone? This guy never put in a real day's work in his lifetime and everyone thinks he'll have the stamina to be a good president?

With the approval rate for this bill dropping daily, there has to be Dem's who are just now waking up to what O'Lenin really wants to do to this country.

Too bad, we tried to warn them, now we all suffer!!

Hey Phil, I’m just a dumb citizen and even I realize the current stimulus is not about helping the country, its all about entrenching the liberal/socialist politicians in power! Please pass this along to the other RINOs.

Obama is pushing so hard to get it passed because it will be a great embarrassment to him if it doesn’t. The whole campaign he stated that he was going to fix and change everything that is “wrong” with the USA on his first day in office. That’s why he began to work on this bill the day he was elected- so that it would be ready to pass immediately. He thought that everyone would just go along because he said so. Not true and it’s embarassing this inexperienced bafoon.

Thats why he's mad. He's on the wrong side of the door.

This thing has got to be pretty bad if RINOs like Graham aren’t willing to sign on, and, in fact are using this kind of language to attack Obama and the bill. This, to my knowledge, is the first time a Republican has launched a broadside against Obama.

It's telling on how Obama will govern that he is taking his case to the populace by giving interviews and trying to sell this snake oil. I never thought I'd say this, but Obama makes Bill Clinton seem honest by comparison.
