It is simply amazing that the Cole did not sink with such a huge hole ripped into her below the waterline.

The sailors are trained to handle those situations. We pray that the situation never arises, but no the less are trained for it.
The fact that the USS Cole didn't sink is a testament to the crew, (at all levels of leadership) and the outstanding training they received.

They say that the crew of the Cole refused to leave the ship, staying with her until she was brought into port. It speaks volumes about the dedication and commitment of our sailors.

No Navy in history, not even the once esteemed RN, has ever come close to the USN in damage control.
