Won't you help a needy child get the health care coverage they deserve? Buy a Pack a Day.

I am finding it difficult for me justifying my taxes paying for this when here in Ohio, the Public Employees Retirement System is trying to force me out of the medical system until I reach age 55. They will still cover the retirees and children, but are only doing this to the spouses.

I’ve always done the “right thing,” as the politicians say. I’ve always paid all of my bills, have always had my own health insurance, and have never even taken a cent from unemployment when I could have. Now, I’m expected to pay for this plan while, like I said prior, my state is trying to force me out of their medical coverage plan until I reach age 55.

And when the excess cigarette tax doesn't cover this guess where they will get the money?? Yep, us. When I worked in Britain in the 80’s I made peanuts because my education didn't translate into their system. My tax bite was 50%. Gotta pay for all that Socialism somehow. Everybody will be paying, not just the rich.

This is the most STUPID way to fund a program that I have ever heard of. What kind of “intellectuals” come up with this stuff?

It originally was passed by Republicans, back in the day, and was funded by cigarette tax then too.

This program is out of control Socialism now - first step to Universal National HealthScare Insurance.

According to the Federal and State Governments, if Everyone would just start smoking again the whole country would be in the Black again.

When you see a smoker, thank them for the service they are doing for this country.

Here, in Cleveland, Cuyahoga County, Ohio, a one cent per cigarette tax goes to fund the arts!

Well, let's have everyone be patriotic. You don't have to smoke them -- just buy them then. LOL.

Funniest thing I overheard yesterday while grocery shopping. Young kid says to fellow employee, "Guess what I bought today? I bought health insurance for 30 million Americans."

"How did you do that?"

"I bought a pack of cigaretts."

I laughed pretty hard at that and thought how great it was that this young person got it.

Most smokers are also among the poorest. Hypocrisy of the Left who have cornered the Big Media market on ‘caring more for the poor’.

Are you saying you think taxpayers should pay for state employees spouses' health insurance?

My county pays for spouses health insurance---the spouses cost more than the employees!

The employees can retire after 20 years and the county pays the employee part until they turn 65. They raise taxes every year that goes to their insurance benefits---nothing to the public.

They are bankrupting the county with their benefits--to numerous to mention.

I pay a good amount every month to be covered under my husband’s plan — just as one does under a private company’s plan. Effective January 1, 2011, spouses will have to pay the entire amount (anywhere from $400 to $800) to be covered under under the plan.
