WASHINGTON (AP) - Kansas Gov. Kathleen Sebelius was near the top of President Barack Obama's list of candidates to head the Health and Human Services Department, a senior administration official said Saturday.

Other news is saying that Tennessee Gov. Phil Bredesen is also a strong possibility, and Sebelius has said that she wouldn’t take an Obama cabinet post (due to her preference for her KS post). “Some advocacy groups” are pushing against Bredesen, while others are saying that Sebelius lacks needed experience.
It appears that Sebelius, BTW, has been rather close to the National Education Association—especially “women’s” issues from within that union. And Bredesen is being criticized by other Dems for cuts against Medicaid in his State.
